News Coverage UK Prime Minister & Government Resignations
Loose Women was only due on for half an hour today anyway, as they have Horseracing from 1:30pm.
To Summarize so far, the news broke at 9:09am and BBC1 extended Breakfast by a few minutes to 9:25am and then took the BBC News Channel from that point onwards.
BBC2 were showing their usual BBC News simulcast when the news broke and crashed out of coverage and are showing BBC1's normal programmes.
ITV were showing Lorraine until the news broke and handed over to ITV News until 10:00am, when This Morning came on air.
Have Channel 4 done any news reports so far today?
And, Channel 5 broke the news during Jeremy Vine's programme.

Not anymore as Tv Zone on Twitter has said that the racing has moved to ITV3.

I haven't seen anything from Channel 4 yet (might be wrong) but their Youtube channel is live at the moment show the 10 Downing Street.
How many hours of coverage does this news needs? Surely once he's said he's resigning and they've done a bit of analysis then ITV can go back to the horse racing.

I thought they might be in mourning.

I guess they just drop the recorded bit and go to "extra" a bit earler.

Don't you mean "AXED!". Sensible call by ITV - This Morning can dip into the news if required and then ITV News on air at around the time he's expected to not resign as Prime Minister.

Is there some kind of No. 10 door pool feed - as far as I can tell the BBC's (front on) shot and the shot on C4 News' live stream are the same - the reflections and perspective line up at least?
Is it not broadly agreed with the networks what time the statement will be?

Perhaps one of the agencies? It's also on the Metro's Facebook page.

This Morning was brilliant during the lockdowns and probably was more valuable than hours of rolling news which I suspect if the news junkies on here had their way, they’d have replaced anything light and non serious with rolling news.

They don’t know, they’ve just reached the same conclusion as all of us here

A lot of these twitter accounts are the same basically guessing but people think they have insider knowledge
Huw taking over on the BBC shortly.

A flurry of post press amendment emails later and it does look as though ITV's running the news right up to Tipping Point at 4pm...
Huw Edwards has taken over on the BBC.
BBC Sounds app have just sent out a “Breaking News: Boris Johnson to resign” notification.

Takes you to 5 Live when you click on it.

Shouldn’t the notification have expanded on that? “Hear the latest on 5 Live” etc. it’s not an app I have notification on to get breaking news?
