I've noticed they are in the flash studios in London from whatever show is done there this week, (Except Amanpour who is doing her show from home) I don't know if they are doing preparation for some of the new shows for next week or just some general updates.

It’s probably testing for the new shows but I hope they’re ditching all the brick and that awful mirrored door.

As expected, Isa Soares Tonight is Hala Gorani Tonight with a few visual and audio changes, the music theme seems to be almost the same, though we didn't get a full open tonight cause of breaking news. Nice usage of the studio.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen CNN on HLN like this. Strange that the main channel is choosing a concert over breaking news, but that’s what happens when you mix entertainment and hard news.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen CNN on HLN like this. Strange that the main channel is choosing a concert over breaking news, but that’s what happens when you mix entertainment and hard news.

As far as I can see on the main CNN US channel, it's still reporting on the latest mass shooting with Wolf Blitzer hosting the coverage, and hasn't cut to a 4th July concert.

Back in the day whilst CNN carried on with rolling coverage Headline News use to carry on and continue to cover national and international news. Sad state of affairs. So basically 3 channels, CNN, CNNi and now HLN showing the same thing.

Sad. From broadcast 96,915.......They should be in their 100s of thousands broadcast of HeadlineNews.

In the immediate hours of the aftermath of yet another horrific mass shooting in the US, CNN should stick with the ongoing coverage of that. Especially if the lunatic responsible is still on the loose and still able to commit another mass shooting in the meantime before being either caught or shot dead. Leave coverage of celebratory concerts to the main networks like CBS and NBC etc, and the news channels should continue to report on the actual news of whatever is going on within the first few hours after a major shooting incident like this.

MSNBC is still continuing coverage and is currently reporting that the alleged perpetrator has been "taken into custody without incident".

I think CNN got it right tonight. Biggest reason to keep coverage rolling was the manhunt, which ended just before 8pm ET. Nothing substantial developed in the hour that followed. I’m actually surprised they had enough resources for two simultaneous prime time broadcasts.

Back in the day, Ted Turner decided the original remit was that CNN was to continue to rolling coverage of big events and CNN Headline News didnt, Headline News inserted the breaking news, but carried on with the news and continuously provided updates as the story developed. They successfully did this duing other national tragedies for decades. But the channel hardly has staff and presenters so at this point, its pointless to show anything else. Its almost like......well at least they did something.

They would have had time to bring extra people in if necessary by primetime.

On Christmas Day 2020, CNN put on three extra hours of live coverage for the Nashville bomb with only a few hours notice (possibly less than yesterday?). And going a bit further back to Christmas Day 2009, CNN switched quickly from news headlines in between documentaries to rolling coverage for the underwear bomb plot.
