Both Network 10 and 10Peach will be showing the final episode (Ep8903) now on Thursday 28th July at 7:30pm.
The episode is 90mins (7:30-9:00).
I'm guessing with Peach now on double eps daily to catch up with the UK, on the Thursday 28th, Peach will show the regular double ep at 6:30pm, then at 7:30 overtake the UK with the 90min final.
On Friday 29th July the UK will get its regular 30 min ep (what Aus see between 7:30-8pm last night) then it looks like Channel 5 has still scheduled the final hour to be Monday 1st August.

There were rumours the other week that Five were planning to change the date of the finale to the the 29th.
C5 should stick to 1st August!
It appears now that 10Peach are rushing out the final batch of episodes and can't wait to get rid of it! Looks like the whole last week of July is 90min eps Mon-Thurs on 10Peach.

Talk about burning off a series. Wonder if that was always Ten's plan or if they got wind of C5's idea. Good luck to any fans trying to avoid spoilers.
C5 will hopefully pull it forward to Friday and just run a double-bill maybe the previous Friday. I assume they do just one showing 6-7pm to maximise audience so there's still a window but not a whole weekend!
Of course if they were really nice to their audience they'd drop it on My5 in sync with Ten's showing, but that'll never happen.

There is no reason for C5 to hold the final episode over until the Monday - they're the ones who want out of it. 6-7.30pm on the Friday probably works best for them and gives them a clean start the next week for whatever replaces it in the slot.

You can tell Channel 5 treats Neighbours well because it's getting a primetime slot. Not sure how it will fare though

Makes sense as they know it'll rate well, although of course anyone with a VPN and the know how will be able to see it on Thursday morning.

Friday at 9pm feels like it's being burned off, the primetime eps Channel 5 have done previously felt out of sync with the daytime eps, they didn't have proper opening titles, and had recent chart music inserted into the episodes totally out of character to the daytime eps.
I only hope the last ep will have the full theme song on the end credits, and C5 have the decency to not talk all over it!! The lyrics of the Neighbours theme are so iconic and are an integral part of the shows history.

What did you want them to do? The combined ratings of the two daily showings are well below a million, the show will be very expensive to produce. Channel 5 aren't a charity, they aren't going to pay to keep something being made based on nostalgia alone. If anything, the show was lucky to have gone on for as long as it has, having been shunted to a secondary channel in Australia and not getting brilliant ratings over here for years, it's been on borrowed time for the last decade at least.

Yes Channel 5 have cancelled the funding but Fremantle haven't helped. First they priced themselves off of the BBC, where truth be told the show could have carried on quite nicely but by moving to Channel 5 the ratings have slowed down so much over time, that it's just not viable to keep it.
Seven Network have been far more sensible with Home & Away by making sure they're on in several international markets. Whilst the UK and Ireland are significant, they've sold the show to several territories on top of that.

Talking of incidental music, does anyone remember the lighthearted 'comedy' music they used to use in the 80s? I remember the tune vividly but haven't had any luck finding an example of it online.
I also remember watching it as a kid and loving when there would be a random season finale style episode (because of how they were ahead in Austrailia). Storylines would all reach their conclusion. I remember one where they all started dancing at a party in Lassiter's. For UK viewers it would then continue the next day with a fresh start and new opening titles.
