Is anybody able to capture how Hull announced it for posterity before it disappears from iPlayer?

Oh god, that’s truly awful viewing. I’m not a viewer and so I don’t know him, but extremely distressing and certainly made me cry.

RIP

It wasn't read out as if it was breaking news, it was just 'sad news to tell you'. It will have just been announced at the agreed time. As I say for it to be announced with archive pics on 3 regions simultaneously means it wasn't new news to them.

There was a presenter in a local station near me a few years ago who passed away one evening, but the announcement was organised and managed so that it was announced on air and on social media at the start of their show the next afternoon. The rest of the station and the on air presenters that day knew what had happened, the were just professional and carried on as normal until that time

Bloody hell! A true professional and a near constant for decades. So shocked. RIP.

Words are unable to describe my shock at this news. I can't remember the last time I was left this stunned. I can't even begin to imagine how awful his colleagues must be feeling. My thoughts are with everyone who knew him.

That doesn't hold with the rushed images on Look North Leeds.  They were preparing for an OB - the other Look North and I assume South Today had at least a little more time to put something together at the end.   There is absolutely no way she would have held it together if she'd known at 6.30.  A story of a mainstay of the programme for many years would have led the programme.

It sounds to me that it was announced too late to do a proper obituary, and therefore it was agreed that they’d all announce it at the end and to mention that there will be a full tribute next week.

Regarding the archive pictures, it’s a morbid thought, but don’t they have stuff like this prepared in advance. Like when they announce a death on the news channel, and there is immediately some footage being played out

On the other hand, a massive news day in the patch, and you could imagine that Harry would have wanted that to take priority over tributes to himself. Much like his own last day on the programme.

Very sad news about Harry and I really felt sorry for Amy as she was clearly emotional at the end of programme, hopefully Calendar will mention the news as Lara presented with Harry for a while when she was at Look North a few years ago.

Edit: Nice to see a mention on the BBC 10 O'Clock News.

Absolutely this.

The team were told mid-afternoon.

I don't think there's any doubt that Mondays calendar will pay tribute. If only as an excuse to take contributions from Christine and Duncan.

If Mike Neville's retirement led both Look North Newcastle and Tyne Tees I think Harry is in the same league.

Totally agree and am I right in saying that Christine presented with Harry once as part of a special programme on the anniversary of Jo Cox's death in 2017.

I'll put this out there now - I hope whatever tributes are shown next week give Christa as much opportunity as anybody else to contribute.

Is it too early suggest that following Radio 2's precedent, the BBC Leeds building could become Gration House?
