Joanna Gosling continuing in Studio C for the back half hour, after Karin Giannone finished the Simulcast.

Perhaps E is out of service or there are other logistical reasons for being in C this morning.

We’ll see in 5 mins from now if the 10am hour also continues from C or may well be an OB from Westminster?

FWIW, David Eades and Lewis Goodall were very good overnight. Both more than capable of this.

And straight to Boris Johnson LIVE at CHOGM just minutes away from the aforesaid 10am TOTH.

That not withstanding, what I did observe was an issue with her mic.

An example of what the future might hold not long after 4pm on the news channel today. They were (presumably) with BBC World who were anchoring from New York and mid-interview when a Boris Johnson press conference started, at which point they swiftly cut to Studio E where a different presenter was standing by to link into the press conference. Presumably World stayed with the interview - a relatively slick transition. About twenty minutes later the NC then linked back into World, recapping the story they were covering and using the same pictures that were running on World before taking their audio again (even if this did mean joining mid-interview).

It's basically the same as what happened after 3pm UK time on CNN US and CNN International, which simulcast more and more these days, like BBC News and BBC World News.

World & NC simulcasting wth Karin Giannone at 9am! It's a sad state of affairs at the BBC when World & the NC now don't have the resources to go their separate ways during major breaking news stories.
Yes, the by-elections may be of significance to World viewers, but not enough to justify rolling coverage. So whilst this morning you'd expect the NC to be rolling with this, it won't be because it now has to cater for World viewers as well.

It's the sort of thing where they could extend Breakfast to cover the first hour anyhow.  Not ideal but it's the sort of thing which might happen without a news channel anyway.

Ultimately with this to become the norm domestic needs to take priority.  It might even be the case of effectively adopting a two hour cycle with different priorities in each hour.

I presume there are other mics around to pick up sound in the event that those of the presenter fail, but it sounded like an echo, or someone standing in an empty warehouse.

I saw that too. The issues persisted for the entire piece didn't they, but Sophie Raworth made no reference.
