News Coverage FNC Wont Air Insurrection Hearing

As mentioned, I think FNC are doing this as they know that Carlson and their usual opinion block will attract a larger audience among their target audience than for an event that many of their audience don't believe is true.

Oh I'm sure most of them believe the insurrection happened, they just believe it was the right and correct thing to do, they were heroes trying to rescue a stolen election, they believe the conspiracies and that the insurrectionists are being persecuted by an illegitimate government.

Risk of straying to political territory here though....

Nobody is suggesting the attempted coup didn't happen, but there are a significant number of people who still believe the election result was illegitimate.  Now we might not like these people or what they have to say, but there's people like that everywhere - and not just on the 2020 election result.

The difference is, of course, you can be partisan on broadcast media in America, both in news & entertainment - and let's not pretend Fox is alone when it comes to bias.  CNN can be just as guilty on the other side, and there was at least one Trump presser that everyone except Fox opted out of because they basically didn't like what the President was saying.  Last Week Tonight with John Oliver was out-and-out pro-Clinton/Biden, virtually begging viewers to vote for them, in a way no British regulator would ever tolerate (being a Brit, Oliver often covers British issues from a left-of-centre position and this has on occasion resulted in edits or delays to TX over here during periods of Purdah.)

It'll be a very sad day if British broadcast media is ever allowed to be so out-and-out partisan.

Hit the nail on the head here, London Lite. Why would FNC want to show trial coverage at the expense of their profitable, highly-rated shows?

This is a multi-media world and coverage does not have the be on the main channel anymore.

And to the poster who described this an attempted coup, this is the type of wacky conspiracy theory you accuse the other side of. It was a disgraceful, uncalled-for riot and storming of a highly-important government building. An actual coup attempt requires a lot more than a disgruntled, angry crowd of protestors to succeed. Insurrection is the correct term for what happened.
