News Coverage FNC Wont Air Insurrection Hearing

Fox News refuses to air the Jan6th Congregation Hearings that will be held tonight. All the major tv networks have dumped their primetime schedules and of course the news networks will be carrying live coverage. But Fox News (and the Fox Network) decided to stick with Tucker Carlson in primetime and shunt the coverage to its little watched business channel. For such an significant event to be ignored by a so called news network, seems like they are intentionally hiding the facts from their large audience. Can Fox News rightly be called a news channel anymore, when they are employing tactics used by Russian and Chinese government, seemingly hiding or crafting the truth because it doenst fit their narrative? I think it s a significant topic worthy of discussion.

No surprise and frankly the right decision for them even if it just confirms what we all know and what their audiences chooses to ignore.

Really does sum up the difference between the UK and US approach to news though that the networks there are scrapping their primetime schedules for it even though viewers gravitate far more to news channels for big events in the US than they do here. I'm guessing the hearings haven't ended up in primetime by accident either.

I'm in no way defending Fox News here, but they are dedicating a lot of air time to the hearings, including providing coverage to Fox affiliate stations.

In their press release they intimate that they will be dipping in and out of the hearings followed by an extended wrap up show later.

Special coverage kicks off at 8 PM/ET with chief political anchor and Special Report’s Bret Baier along with executive editor of The Story Martha MacCallum co-anchoring live from Washington, DC on Fox Business Network.

The coverage will be offered to Fox Broadcast affiliates across any of their platforms as well as live streamed on Fox News Digital for free, without authentication and live streamed on Fox Nation.

Fox News Channel’s primetime programs will cover the hearings as news warrants and at 11 PM/ET, Fox News @ Night anchor and chief legal correspondent Shannon Bream will anchor a two-hour live special joined by Baier and MacCallum for news analysis through 1 AM/ET, pre-empting Gutfeld!

If they don't care they probably should. It has massive implications for their democracy. Constitutionally its a very big deal, this sort of thing happens in other parts of the world.... it doesn't usually happen in somewhere like the USA. It very nearly lead to the assassination of several senior politicians

And if recent reports are to be believed, there's something similar being arranged for the mid-terms in November - not the actual events at the Capitol, but the contesting of the results

Probably not surprised FOX are avoiding use their main channel to air this given their audience want to hear what MAGA world is talking about and random conspiracy theories from Tucker Carlson. In fairness though it's good to see Fox Business being used to air the whole hearing and all the rest of the networks are carrying it in full anyway.

That's pretty much bang on, especially while the Republicans are still effectively under the thumb of a certain extremely highly corrupt, big orange bloated bag of bull**** one term, twice impeached, disgraced former President that (allegedly) incited the Capitol insurrection. That's about as political as I'm going to get, especially since political discussion is very heavily discouraged here.

Meanwhile, on the current subject of the coverage of the January 6th Committee Hearings being broadcast in primetime on three of the main US TV networks dropping their primetime programming for this, plus the left-leaning news channels CNN and MSNBC, some would say it's maybe overkill, and Fox News maybe providing an alternative, but for those of us on forums like this, it's presentation overload!

There are various sources online where it's possible to watch US broadcast feeds of both CNN and MSNBC, but they are "unofficial" sources so obviously I won't link to any of them here.

NBC News Now is officially available in the UK via Virgin and Sky- will they be showing it, and simulcasting NBC's coverage if they are?

CBS News and ABC News live have officially available web feeds here too. Possible that all 3 networks' coverage might be shown via those channels?

NBC News Now are indeed carrying the main NBC special report.

As mentioned, I think FNC are doing this as they know that Carlson and their usual opinion block will attract a larger audience among their demo than for an event that many of their audience don't believe is true.

I’m not sure focusing on “real issues” is the best way to describe the content of Fox News’ primetime programming.
