Pre-Launch BBC News: Studio B Refit
Wow that AR intro from the Newyddion logo to studio is really dodgy
They've already used VR for the newsroom hoop (Newsroom Live), and in E for 'The Papers'.

I remember the time when the newspapers were spinning around above the desk in midget form, which rather spoilt the illusion.  Unfortunately I can't find an image of it. Tongue
Lots of people have said it’s going to be like the Cardiff set but I don’t know what their source for that is. Other than it’s the newest set that’s gone live, I think this is just based on supposition. All will be revealed.
So Monday then for a possible launch?

Nothing like Cardiff.

Last I heard it was launching Monday.

So not rectangular flat video walls like the last set in TVC and currently in Cardiff?
I've seen bits from it and it's not really comparable to anything before, at least I can't think of anything similar at the BBC.

It's nice, I like what I've seen and as I've said before there's a nice touch that will go down well here
Been a bit of confusion over whether or not it would be used for the One so I'm guessing we might have to hold out until 6pm on Monday?

I am quite surprised the hologram of Moira has made it through to launch though…
What was the last programme in Studio B before it was mothballed?
I would guess Newsnight on 27th March 2020. Andrew Marr moved to E on the 29th and Newsnight moved the next day.

I believe that the last programme to use the studio in regular usage, before it was mothballed during the pandemic, was Newsnight on Friday 27th March 2020. The last live programme to use Studio B was the local elections last year, but World were occasionally using the space for certain pre-records like The World Debate so one of those shows might officially be the final programme to come from the studio before the original set was removed. The first broadcast of the original set was The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday 2nd September 2012 - just over nine years and nine months ago.

They used it for the 2021 elections, but I think it had been mothballed by that point

Wasn’t GMT the first show to use the original B set?
We have this from Chris Cooks Instagram. Very excited to see the new set. If they are using a newsroom backdrop I do hope it’s not the same one we have in studio C just now, that really isn’t suitable for the National bulletins.
