ITV Central’s Bob Warman retires

What is a shame now with these local legends, and perhaps a reason they stick around so long, is the way regional TV has gone in the last 20 years there isn't the opportunity to give them post-retirement series to keep them on screen, although just for a few weeks a year, in their local area.

Bob Warman retiring? Haven't heard that name in yonks, I fondly remember him hosting Price is Right on Sky in the early days of the channel.

It’s a well known fact that one of Bob’s main personal highlights during his very long career was hosting Central’s coverage of ITV Telethon. This is him in a trailer for the first Telethon in 1988:

These were my estimations that I posted in Fred Dinenage’s leaving thread last year for currently serving regional presenters:

Bob Warman (Yorkshire, ATV, Central): 1976 (45 years - Possibly longer but unsure if Bob presented ATV Today between 1973-1976)
Fred Dinenage (Southern, TVS, Meridian): 1983 (38 years)
David Garmston (BBC West): 1985 (36 years)
Sally Taylor (BBC South): 1987 (34 years)
Lucy Meacock (Granada): 1988 (33 years)
Paul Clark (UTV): 1989 (32 years)

And worth remembering that Sally Taylor was at BBC South West (Plymouth) before she started at Southampton - I am guessing it was probably around 1985/6 she was at Spotlight as I worked with her at Radio Devon where she did the Saturday breakfast show.

Good to see this in the schedule. It's a shame they didn't do something similar for Fred Dinenage.

The network showing is at 3am, which seems rather an odd time, but better than nothing I suppose. Personally think it would have been better in an earlier slot, but the programmes before it seem to have fixed times in the schedules, so may not have been possible.

Yes it is confirmed in the England version of What's on TV . it will be aired at 10.45pm on the 4th July 2022 on ITV in the midlands but it will be shown again at 3am on ITV & STV, plus The Bob Warman Tribute programme will be on the ITV hub

Does STV still do their own continuity at that time of the evening/morning? Will be interesting to see how they introduce a programme about a regional news presenter most Scots won’t likely be aware of.
