Great news then that Sky and GB News have that covered. No point the BBC just covering what everyone else is covering.

I think people around the world get that BBC News is based in the UK and would understand that a major breaking news story here - such as the resignation of a cabinet minister - would be covered.

Surely CNN cover breaking news in the US more than the BBC would.

What do France 24 do? Surely there's more of a French focus?

France24 isn't broadcast in France barring overnights on franceinfo. The usual intl slate of stories plus some important French ones which other outlets might take a pass on (the Grenoble Burkini saga being one).

I didn't 10 years ago, when Samira read out mine . . . and I missed out on appearing on the programme as I didn't reply to a call from the Producer in time.

One wonders if they'll use the BBC World News logo when they break away for their own coverage or if it'll all become BBC News?

I have to say that right now it really is a dogs mess of nonsense. From presenters unaware they are simulcasting to the BBC World News Logo appearing happy as Larry every night on the news channel, not that your average Rita, Sue or Bob too will notice.

I think the channel will just be named BBC News.

I expect the top of the hour news will just be branded BBC News, and the back half hour will be possibly pre-recorded "The Context", "Newsday" or "Focus on Africa" etc - maybe depending on region.

Weekends both Internationally and Domestic, you will see programmes like Click or The Travel Show etc.

Guess they'll do some split, hopefully UK-focused back-half programmes can stay like Political Thinking, Media Show, random programmes currently used like BBC Wales Investigates, etc

I wouldn't be surprised if most the back half filler is axed. As much as it can be repeated and exist in a "digital" space it can be somewhat of a false economy compared to just going the full hour with news.

These programmes are sponsored outside of the UK I believe, so it would be a loss of commercial revenue not to include them.  I think BBC Studios will be paying BBC News UK to produce the content, and then they make money from the sponsorship and distribution
