That’s a surprise. I didn’t expect Sky to agree to that.
Also airing in Welsh on S4C.
The C4 promo for the England games specifies the coverage isn't available in the ROI.

Interesting. Channel 4 programmes have never before been geo-blocked in Ireland on Virgin Media at least. I can’t speak for other platforms.
C4 programmes have been blocked on Sky in the past (easily circumvented by adding one of the U.K. versions to Manual Tuning) but it is a very long time (and we are talking years and years here) since I’ve actually come across it happening. Incidentally at the moment it seems Premier Sports coverage of other nations won’t be blocked - games are in the schedule on the ROI EPG whereas if they were blocked they’d normally be replaced with “This is Premier Sports 1 HD ROI”.

It’s no biggy anyway, all of England’s games will be on VMTV.

Great news - surprised there hadn't been more chatter about this being potentially pay-TV only so glad a deal has been struck.   Are ITV producing their own coverage or transmitting the Sky Sports coverage?

Guessing this is potentially Sky's last international football match in Europe at least for 6 years too.

I suspect Sky will consider a bid for at least part of the post 2024 England matches contract. The channel four contract is only for two years.

I understand that test cricket is covered by Radio 4 LW. Is this the same coverage as Radio 5 Live Sports Extra?

I ask because my dad likes to listen on Radio 4 LW but his transistor radio is past its best. Not sure whether to buy him a new one with LW or with DAB - few seem to available with both.

With 198 not long for this world I'd go with DAB.

That restriction won't affect anyone who uses a Freesat box or TV when it's combined with Saorview channels in The Republic of Ireland. They will able to watch the matches unencrypted in their own homes in Ireland at that point.

The only difference in output between R4LW and Five Live Sports Extra, is on the latter there's no shipping forecast at 12.55 and 5.55.
Other than that, its a straight simulcast.

Doesn't the end of the shipping forecast on R4LW mean the apocalypse?

I think the July-December calendar for the Scottish League Cup was at the instigation of BT Sport - I guess if it ain't broke...

also I had to go and check whether there was actually a tennis tournament (or indeed three) on the Isle of Bute, but in this case the Rothesay is the name of the sponsor - the Open is Nottingham, the Classic is Edgbaston, and the International is Eastbourne. (And the cinch Championships is Queens).
Apparently the Rugby League Challenge Cup moving to earlier in the year, having been a summer fixture for quite some time now, was at the request of the BBC too - although moving the final to May makes it virtually impossible to have the final at Wembley thanks to all the football finals.

A bit of chaos and a lot of filling with kick-off in the Champions League delayed half an hour and many fans yet to be let in. "Security reasons" the excuse given with reports of fans being pepper sprayed by authorities as they wait to enter.

UPDATE: Finally kicked off at 8.36pm.
