Yes, and normally the duty Thames or LWT announcer would say to the whole ITV Network, 'the following programme is also being shown by the BBC'.....

I don't know if this counts as a holy grail, but I remember in the 1980s, if the BBC had to put out a transmitter information announcement, they had this slide, with "TRANSMITTER INFORMATION" in bold black lettering, with a black transmitter on the left, on a gloomy blue sky background. For a while, STV had their own one, with the IBA logo, and "TRANSMITTER INFORMATION" below it, all in red on a black background. Never seen these slides on web searches.

Also, another holy grail, if you can call it that, is when you used to go on holiday to another ITV and/or BBC region, and you got to see their presentation, idents, and how their local news looked. I remember when I was on holiday with my parents, in Whitley Bay, in 1991, and during an ad break on Tyne Tees, the day we arrived, I saw a break bumper for the first time!

The Beeb sometimes used to just use a picture of someone's domestic aerial

The BBC Service Information announcements are certainly holy grail (unlike the IBA version of which many examples are easily available).  I think the slide you refer to is used as part of this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HzrKsP9ImE

and as a standalone announcement about a transmitter fault

Other examples seem to use a photo of an domestic receiving aerial for some reason.
Write that down in your copybook now

It wasn't like that; it was black lettering, and the black silhouette of the transmitter, camera looking up at it from an angle, on a blue background, a moody looking photo.

Does this count as a holy grail, I found some pictures of the moment ITV broke the news of the 9/11 attacks in 2001 during Crossroads.

Also, a interesting tweet posted in the same thread:

I used to love this too! Especially when I visited over a weekend and got to see the Carlton and LWT different idents and announcers.

And the ridiculous thing is, it can't have actually cost that much. Whatever costs were incurred were likely offset by the additional viewership from demonstrating that they cared enough about the local area to differentiate the output.
