I watched a trailer for Welcome Back on TFX yesterday complete with TF1 style graphics from that period.

As part of its game show Welcome Back (based on the ITV format A Year to Remember), hosted by Camille Combal, and whose today's episode is based on events from 2000, TF1 has done a throwback to that year, reintroducing, only for that show, all the visual elements from View's 2000 brand identity, carefully rebuilt and recreated at an extent they even got the font (Microgramma) right. Even some of the original jingle pubs from that era are being shown, remastered and adapted to 16:9 HD.

In the first episode, however, they largely stuck to the current branding for all elements surrounding the show.

In the run-up, M6 has replaced its current break-bumpers by Gédéon with exact recreations of many of these memorable break bumpers aired in the 90s, the golden age of the channel.

Assuming it's due to being in-between the Presidential Election rounds, the jockeys (stand-in presenters) aren't on the news bulletins and channels this weekend despite being Easter along with Franceinfo providing a normal schedule.

I'd assume the regular presenters will take a break after the 2nd round results a week on Monday.

France 5 is trying some schedule changes in an attempt to rejuvenate its audience. Since January, France 5 airs a France TV Slash strand on Monday nights, mixing local and foreign series and long-form magazines and documentaries targeted at the 12-25 year group, in a similar style to the now-defunct ThreeTime on BBC One. Therefore, the author cinema strand Place au cinéma has been displaced from Mondays to Friday evenings, replacing the traditional theatre/live music slot in a companion attempt to prioritise the Culturebox linear channel, since then, ratings on both days have since improved.

In the same line, France 5 has decided to rejuvenate its factual daily shows: these have included, among others, relaunching Le magazine de la santé after its longtime presenter, Michel Cymès, began concentrating his work on the PSB in the France 2 fold. His longtime companion, Marina Carrère d'Encausse, took over, but after sagging ratings and its production taken over by the teams of La Maison des Maternelles, it is reported Gérald Kierzek will become the show's new host as the new season begins. The C Jamy daily show is being dropped to extend C à vous to an additional 30 minutes; another casualty is that Entrée libre, Claire Chazal's after-TF1 endeavour, might move to Culturebox. Additionally, C ce soir and C dans l'air gained additional special editions, focusing on the French presidential election and the Ukraine invasion.

In other news, BFM TV's expansion to other regional centres continues. At the end of last year, Alsace 20 was taken over by Altice Média from the two biggest newspapers in the region. After slowly mutualizing resources, starting June 28, the channel will be fully retooled as a regional news channel, named BFM Alsace (joining BFM Paris Île-de-France, BFM Lyon, BFM Marseille Provence, BFM Grand Lille/Grand Littoral, BFM Nice Côte d'Azur, BFM Toulon Var and BFM DICI as part of the BFM Régions network). The channel's programming will be composed, as with other BFM regional channels, with daily morning and weekday evening shows, as well as the continuous provision of pre-produced blocks of video reports (updated every hour during dayside), live weather and air quality reports and traffic and travel updates. The station's 18 reporters will transition to smartphone-laden VJ workflow, and all production and playout will be handled out of the Altice Campus in Paris.

The channel will be retained on channel 30 on the local TNT muxes, and in all boxes covering the region. The service will be also available on the BFM TV website and apps, as well as through the RMC BFM Play AVOD platform. Gilbert Brisbois, the host of RMC's After Foot, will be the guest of honour during launch day.

Edit: I've had a look at Alsace 20's news bulletin which continues to be out of vision with VTs being played out, but BFM Regions are already providing a weather forecast for the region using the existing BFM Regions forecaster Virgilia Hess.

France 3's decision to cancel Plus belle la vie (due to budget and audience constrains, and to prioritise France 2's lower-cost soap Un si grand soleil) is now official. The final episode will air on November 18, as a prime-time TV film, with shooting ending on late September. France 3 plans to reuse the studio facility built specifically for the series, Pôle média de la Belle de Mai. The 30 million investment will mean that another Newen production, Candice Renoir, will move to the sets built for the show, and France TV will commission two new dramas and four new miniseries to be produced in that city and facility.

In another related story, France Télévisions has replaced Canal+ as the official media partner for the Cannes Festival, which begins on May 17. France TV has been joined by social media brand Brut as a global media partner. Coverage will be distributed to all its channels:

- France 2 and France 3 will offer during its prime-time film slots, a selection of films which have participated and/or won in previous editions of the Festival. Additionally, their newscasts will offer live spot coverage in the Festival area, as well as long-form feuilletons and special reports, and their weekend newscasts (13h and 19/20) will air live from Cannes on May 21.

- France 2 will be broadcasting, live and direct, the opening and closing ceremonies; a special edition of Télématin will air on May 24 from the Croissette, with Julia Vignali and Maya Lauqué; and Laurent Delahousse's 20h30 Le Samedi and 20h30 Le Dimanche will air from there during three consecutive Saturdays, and the 13h15 Le Samedi will air a special report on that day. Some days will be themed: France 2 will air a women-themed documentary series on May 8 and 15, Les effrontées, le cinéma au féminin, focused on the role of women in French cinema, as well as an original documentary film on the Festival's history on opening day, directed by Frédéric Bonnaud (French Cinématheque CEO), after the opening ceremony. France 3 will air, as part of the Festival homage to Romy Schneider, a special evening on her on May 20. France 5 will also air Cannes films during their Place au cinéma and Cinéma de Minuit art film slots.

- France 3 viewers in the France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur grand region will get special opt-out coverage specifically for that area, mostly involving its regional programming moving to the Croissette.

- France 5's debate show C ce soir will air two special editions on May 20 and 27, and its book magazine La grande librairie will also air from there May 18 (live) and May 25 (recorded), talking about films based on fiction novels. C à dire ?! will also air from la Croissette on opening day, homaging Romy Schneider.

- Other France TV shows will air special editorial content from Cannes: F3's Météo à la carte will air a three-part feuilleton on the Cannes region, whilst F5's C à vous has asked its columnist, Canal+ founder and legend (and current Festival chairman) Pierre Lescure to offer a personal insight on the Festival. Claire Chazal's Passage des arts will also air from Cannes twice, on May 22 and 29, and C Jamy will air a special edition on French cinema on opening day.

- Franceinfo will offer a special programme on the Montée des marches, featuring former BFM TV entertainment reporter Louise Ekland, from 18h15 until 19h.

- Culturebox (on France 4) will be the main channel offering the bulk of live coverage, beginning with a two-hour magazine, Cannes Festival, presented by an all-women team: Daphné Bürki, Louise Ekland, Laure Adler and Camille Diao. Cécile Guthleben will join the team on Fridays, whilst Brut culture journalist Augustin Trapenard will interview the star of the day from the Montée des marches. The magazine will be followed by a Cannes selection film, and through the night, the channel will be taking the internal TV Festival de Cannes service, before switching over to the Okoo block in the morning. This situation will mean that French Open coverage traditionally broadcast by LCN 14 will move to France 3, displacing PBLV for a week from May 23.

- France TV's AVOD/SVOD service will offer a selection of Cannes films, documentaries and special programming on its service, including themed box sets, alongside a live stream of TV Festival de Cannes.
