It's been done already, but what you could've done is downloaded it, opened it in an image editor (not MS Paint though as it doesn't support transparency), and just used an invert colours option. Of course that only works for switching black to white and vice versa, if there's any colour at all that'd be inverted too. Then of course you just reupload the image.

I think this kind of things takes time to iron out, especially with international coverage as large as the BBC's. 

Heck, in some places the Gill Sans wordmark is still used, despite adopting the later graphical styling, as seen in BBC News Arabic:

AFAIK they are web sites for articles and content with advertising opportunities.

International includes stuff like BBC First, BBC Brit, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Earth, BBC America, BBC Kids, etc

Global would be BBC News | Afrique, Arabic, Persian, Turkce, World Service, etc
