BBC News: April 2022 onwards

Just had a look on iplayer and unfortunately the logo has benefitted bbc world news logo at the expense of the bbc news logo which looks too small now bbc world news has a trailer with the old logo…..

I was expecting to be disappointing tbh with no high hopes at all.

I think BBC News and World News logo can be better if they used boxless logo as the originally intended.

The new blocks do not look great at small sizes (which should have been a primary consideration), nor when squashed in a box - having a whiff of "bad mock" about them. A necessary change maybe, but hardly a welcome one.

I hope the rebrand proper is more in line with the TV channels. I am so done with those knackered 2008 titles.

It's clear that the reason the BBC News logo is so small in the box during the countdown/opening titles is so that it is consistent with World News, where the size makes more sense. Which would be logical if viewers could see both channels.

Anyway, it won't be around for long by all accounts so nothing to get worked up about.

So the 1988 logo's counter problem is nearing us again. Nice. Dodgy

The box is a terrible solution - hope it's just a quick fix before one that suits the new brand shows up.

And hey, they could've done a better effort at it:

Now on TVTalk, Pres Café and DeviantArt. Goodbye to all that, TVLF.

As I've said before, at this size it would look so much better if they just got rid of the letters in the blocks. While I'm not broadly a fan of the new logo, I think it does work at the large size as used in idents/promo slides. But the letters are just too small for it to work at smaller sizes - particularly this small.

There is also the fact that the BBC letters being so significantly smaller than the 'News'/'World News' lettering makes the BBC brand look subordinate to the News brand - something not helped by them increasing the weight of the News text. If anything, it should be the other way around.

I do hope this is merely temporary and a better solution is going to be found for the full rebrand, because it just looks not great. Others have said that it is just utterly bizarre that this change couldn't be done last October, but the more pressing point is that they had six extra months and this was the best they could come up with.

Small detail: The BBC World News logo at the screens at the end of the countdowns is now -again- the one from 2013. What a mess.
Anyway, we will have soon a rebrand so we shouldn´t worry too much.

I don't think the logo looks bad in the lower thirds at all, it looks clean and works fine enough.

The box is ugly though.
Also known as "Allanbuzzy" on other places.

They shouldn’t have bothered tbh considering there’s a lot of places you can see the old logo should have done it with the big revamp.

Politics live is still using the old blocks, although I’m not sure if it’s officially classed as a BBC News programme.

Just a mess isn’t it!

I assume BBC Parliament is yet to update either. Probably another six months for that.

I was expecting to be bad tbh only because I get all the bbc news services on various sats and yeah it’s a mess really.

This department is so big with too many chiefs I imagine.
