Is there a way with this software to quote from Twitter, FB etc without using forum code?

Twitter is the only one you can't embed directly at the moment.

You can embed Facebook (the comment and reply link are in French for some reason, will fix that at some point)...

Many kudos to you Rob for all the hard work you've undertaken in getting the forum back online! I personally quite like the stripped-back look, it's very 2000s which feels like a warm hug in a blanket in these times

Not sure if this is a suited place to put this, but I noticed that the profile areas are showing the stuff to do with the Reputation system that MyBB natively has. I am curious why this system wasn't used (with negative reputation disabled) instead of the Likes plugin. To be fair, I don't mind the Likes system, but it doesn't seem to be tied against the Rep system and perhaps there is a benefit behind not having the reputation system being used here as it could likely be abused. But was generally curious on why Likes was preferred over Rep Big Grin

Isn’t reputation for users, whereas likes/kudos is for posts? If so, I much prefer the latter.

When I was setting things up here, I was hoping to use the Reputation as a kudos-type thing, but it was annoying because you had to click on it, then a pop-up would appear and then clicking OK on the pop-up would add the reputation points. It was a pain, so I've now turned it off.

I'm working all weekend, so any changes to the site will be happening from Tuesday. There may be some brief downtime whilst these changes happen, so do bear with me.

Thank you to those who have sent donations to keep the forum running, they've been put to good use by ensuring that we remain ad-free for the forseeable future.

Again, if you would like to tip (not compulsory) - click the "buy me a pint" link at the bottom of the page.

Hi Rob, not sure if this is still a feature on the new forum but if it is, could the 'someone has posted since you last' be disabled for the BBC News 'Rebrand' and the Launch of TalkTV?
Cheers

It's already switched off, and won't be turned on.

Dark mode will return to the site in the next couple of weeks, I'm still testing it out to make sure it works.

Thread prefixes are now available in the News forum. If you've started a topic, please feel free to add them to your initial post. These will be rolled out across the other forums in due course.

Appreciate all the work you've had to do over the last couple of weeks Rob - such a shame the nuclear option seemed the only way to fix the random logins issues but needs must.

Must say though not completely sold on the prefixes in the news forum - makes it look quite cluttered IMO.

Agreed, it’s ok for a few things but having them on very thread kind of diluted the effect.

Again, very good work to keep everything going. I hope you can get at least the home page looking a bit more bespoke and back it former glory when you have the chance.

In time, the forum homepage will return to a shadow of its former self. I do have some ideas on how to get it done, it's just a case of finding the time at the moment. Very short staffed at work at the moment, so I'm taking as many shifts as I can handle to lighten the load a bit. Smile

With regards to the prefixes, I take all the comments on board, and will review this at some stage to see if they can be improved / reduced in size a bit.

As someone who likes the look of the forum as it is, if you will be moving the design more towards the old forum, will you have a lite version as previously?

I'm not sure if the entire forum will return to how it looked before, as I'm still finding my way around how things work on this new software.

I am hoping though that at least the forum homepage will return to how it used to be. I have an idea in mind as to how to implement this, but any changes will need to be tested thoroughly before I can put them live.

I'm not sure if I'm missing it, but are there notifications for kudos?

Obviously my posts are extremely erudite and humorous so really do rake in those kudos, but I don't seem to be spotting a little notification anywhere?

Alternatively, the reality is that my posts are so ill-informed and ill-pitched that they never get kudos, and I simply missed the single occasion that it has happened.
