Whilst I agree the amount GMB has is a little OTT, they have just been mostly using the 'world your waking up to' bed recently and it does get a little boring with the same bed over and over.

I wonder why GMB are still persisting with full social distancing, when other live shows have gone back to normal? Iain and Ayesha who were guests this morning were sat many metres apart in the studio, but have posted a photo of them on Twitter stood in the green room together! Equally I’m sure behind the scenes it’s likely to have gone back to normal in terms of distancing, just like it has for the rest of us, so it’s silly to retain it on TV for effect, there’s no safety benefit.

I do think the desk probably plays a part in their thinking - I wonder how Erron Gordon imagined the massive desk would be set up in ‘normal times’. You could probably leave the newsreader on the corner, but it would look pretty silly if the main presenters are back sat next to one another.

You see this sort of thing often - it's just a complete charade to be seen to be 'doing the right thing' despite the fact that there's not been any requirement to distance at all for some time, and you know that they're not distancing off screen anyway.

Stuff like this is all for show and this sort of performative nonsense needs to be well and truly put to bed.

Possibly GMB persist with the social distancing in a "just in case" attitude, that some sort of restrictions will return. Yes, any return of these style restrictions has a very limited chance, but some producers might not trust the government, and feel as soon as they return their sets to normal ways, bang, they are hit with some restrictions and they have to alter it again.

I know this sounds daft and stupid, but it is a mindset some producers still have. The fear factor remains.

I saw Ross King on GMB at the Oscars last week, and he had his face right up to about 6 inches (15.24cm) from the person he was interviewing. Never mind Covid style social distancing, it was simply outrageously close by any measure !
