Not the best show this week. Obviously there were a few technical glitches which were unfortunate so it didn’t feel as slick as the previous episodes, even after two weeks off. All the previous episodes this series have been on point.
Worst points were the beginning and the end of the show. Didn’t like the opening not happening like usual in place of Michael Buble. And like someone else already mentioned, the Morecambe & Wise style EOTSS just felt forced. I almost think that if they’re suffering from a lack of ideas of what to do with the guest they’ve booked for it, they’ll just pull some kind of Morecambe & Wise skit out. It just doesn’t work.
Previously people here have complained that the show is too slick and hark back to the likes of SM:TV Live when stuff would go wrong and Ant and Dec would skilfully make a joke of it. Seems they can’t win.
In reality, despite what the tabloids are probably saying, the slight technical difficulties were extremely minor
Think last night’s end of the show show was the first “Morecambe and Wise” style one they’ve done all series. They’ve really stepped them up this year, the drag and Sam Fender ones in particular were really strong.
To be honest the minor technical glitches and on air swearing are the things that remind you that the show is live, and live entertainment should have a bit of a chaotic energy. I thought it was another good show overall and the Undercover was brilliant.
I don’t mind if things go slightly wrong (and these were indeed slight and speedily sorted).
As others state, it does give it a bit of a “live tv edge”.
Maybe I’m easily pleased, but I’m equally impressed if nothing goes wrong, or if a few things don’t quite go to plan.
As for the Morecambe and Wise comparisons, that’s a big plus for me, it’s not like it’s always like that. I thought it was brilliantly executed and a great laugh.
Great to see Stephen Mulhern back and on form as well. Liked that he directly addressed the fact he’d been unwell, adds a real human element to proceedings.
I thought last night’s show was great. The more chaos the better. Anna Maxwell Martin was brilliant too - wasn’t really aware of her before having not watched any of her shows but she was hilarious.
Interesting how they mentioned how 'Alan Partridge' rather than Steve Coogan was on the show next week!
Wonder how the Undercover worked as it seems the participants weren't made aware it was all a setup for 6 weeks, in which time they may have written quite the negative review about the restaurant on the likes of TripAdvisor! (unless they created a fake name)
It also seems they've become more relaxed as the series has gone on in terms of Covid, A&D now happily shaking hands and hugging participants!

There was one part where Melvin said the same thing twice which definitely suggests someone, probably Stephen, is talking to them through the talkback system.
Scott Mills and Chris Stark are now singing Happy Birthday to a caller who isn’t celebrating a birthday today. It is actually Scott’s birthday today so I presume that’s the gag.
I don’t know what Vick and Jordan are doing now as well. Sounds very weird in the context of this.

I'm sure they'll edit it to look funny for TV, but "Presenters Say Wildly Random Things One After Another And It Fools Nobody" isn't really that funny.
'Subtle as a brick' is how I saw someone describe it.

There’s been no press coverage of this at all, which unless they have been told not to give the game away, suggests it hasn’t been as successful at causing confusion as the previous edition. Although there has been a fair amount of Twitter users not realising it’s a joke.

Heard it earlier on Scott Mills and had my suspicions, especially as Bangers was out of it's usual slot. Comes across very unprofessional for those not in on the joke.
