I have stated this thread for discussion of BBC Wales Today and ITV Wales News/ITV Wales at Six.
ITV Wales were meant to be opting out of the network at 7pm tonight and screening a leaders debate for the upcoming election. However it appears this has been postponed and has been replaced by the network offering, Tipping Point Lucky Stars.
James Crichton-Smith, Health correspondent and deputy Wales at Six presenter is leaving ITV Wales sometime in April. he announced on twitter.
Also, I've been impressed with BBC Wales Today's coverage of the Welsh Assembly Government Coronavirus briefings over the last year. As well as airing the briefing live there has been analysis and discussion afterwards.
A few terms that should be defined before this thread gets underway.
The Welsh Assembly no longer exists. Since last summer, it has been known officially as the Welsh Parliament or Senedd Cymru. On most Welsh TV news & politics programmes, it's simply referred to as 'the Senedd'.
The Welsh Assembly Government or 'WAG' hasn't existed since 2011, when the 'Assembly' term was dropped from the name. For the past decade it's officially been known as the Welsh Government.

I assume BBC Wales were due to go on air at 12.15pm on Friday for the briefing, which may have been why S4C were a bit slow off the mark in reporting the news.

Talking of elections this will be the first at Central Square. Previously both the BBC and S4C have used seperate studios. Plenty of options within the new building - I would guess one may use the foyer space and the other the sport studio, with the news studio used for voting graphics by both.

Very difficult to read. Ruth is lovely off camera too, and I'm glad she can begin to put this behind her.

I remember how abruptly she changed her name back on the forecasts. There wasn't any mention of it anywhere at the time. I feel incredibly sorry for her and I'm glad she's now able to move past it.

Just shows how much better real newsroom backdrop would be. I wonder how many of the regions actually have the studio next to the newsroom.
Must say that desk looks better than the new outdoor desk used by the network news.

I hope more regions get that glass for their newsroom pieces, it certainly looks very nice indeed.
I noticed that Ruth had changed her name back to Dodsworth on the weather forcasts although rarely mentioned on screen - they tend now to say 'now the weather with ......' for all forcasters now not just the 2 ITV Wales ones, even when someone from another region covers, rather than give the full name as they often did before. I sent my best wishes to Ruth and hope she can move on. It was nice to see her back in the studio on Friday doing the weather.
I see that the Wales leaders debate has been rescheduled to 7pm tonight, opting out of the network on ITV Wales.
I was thinking that the studio needs a refresh to - id love to see them use a different backdrop as nice as Cardiff Bay is.
