The sad thing is 3-4m is the new benchmark really - only the very top shows are getting 6m+. I think Dancing on Ice has generally been better received this year even if that's not reflected in the ratings - I suspect it'll make it through to 2024 anyway so they can mark 40 years since the Bolero.
Yes, Starstruck being sat on the shelf so long isn't a great sign of confidence but if it rates well enough it'll get a second series, just like Rolling in It did despite also being sat on the shelf so long. Indeed if it wasn't for covid it might have stayed on the shelf.

The days of double digit viewership being granted for anything (bar maybe high profile sporting events) are long gone. That being said, if 37% of TV viewers is only 6m, then that implies there were were only about 17m people watching TV on Saturday night, so it's always going to be an uphill struggle to some extent.

If they didn't rate it, I can't imagine they'd have given it such a big slot out of Takeaway, and moved The Voice out of the way for it. It suggests there was some degree of hope going into it. It's not flopping (yet) but the numbers are not very impressive. Dancing on Ice isn't doing well but I think has got a couple of years left in it yet just because of how difficult it will be to replace. None of the new swings in the talent show space have done very well (although none of them have been very good either, and you'd hope that now TV production appears to be close to normal again we'll get some better attempts in the near future).

Casualty instead of The Wheel for the next few weeks should help Starstruck. On a different note, the "stay-at-home Dad" who won as Freddie Mercury is in Majesty, a pretty successful Queen tribute band and the woman who won as Cher is a professional musician so you have to wonder if they were invited to apply for the show.

Yes I don't think it's a big deal on this show at all. You want the most convincing 'sound-a-likes', many of them probably have singing careers or are already some kind of tribute act.

Sitting on a Fortune has been reportedly renewed. Quite surprised really considering it didn't rate that well and the reviews weren't really favourable, so I hope they at least rework the format a bit.

I didn't think it was a bad show myself, although it felt slightly more suited to a daytime format rather than a Sunday evening format (particulary as the prize money seems rather generous for not having to do too much!)
Not often I say this but the celebrity edition was quite good fun too
