The BBC's rented set in QE Park in London looks really good. It has a good blend of colour with the red & blue lighting on the platform. The half time show wasn't too bad. The sound levels for it was better than last year.

Looks like no U.K./Ireland TV deal for Super Rugby again this year, Sanzaar will have an in-house streaming option instead.

Indeed so - a shame, but no surprise, it's pretty niche and Sky only showed these historically, because of their contract for the internationals. Let's just hope that a proper TV deal is done in time for the summer internationals, and The Rugby Championship.

It's a shame as they were always a nice reward for waking up early on a Saturday morning and set the day up lovely, especially if you were heading out on the razz.
Full season for £49, compared to a full URC season for £90 via Premier Sports or a full season of Premiership+European on BT for £25 per month (yes yes I know you get other stuff with that too.) Hmm. Will have to ruminate on it for a few days.

I suppose we are seeing the consequences of Sky’s complete withdrawal from rugby union here, in that while BT may have made itself the home of English rugby, it’s got plenty going on in that early slot with AFL , A-League and cricket and so this doesn’t hold the same interest. I thought Premier Sports might pick it up, they’ve got a relationship with Sanzaar in Asia, but not to be obviously. €60 or thereabouts is a lot for a competition which, although I love watching (the NZ derbies at any rate), timing means I can rarely watch much of it live, although at least it’s an easy one to avoid being spoiled results-wise (unlike say NFL).

NewscastStudio has published a thoughtful analysis on the new package, which was designed in-house (like most of NBC Sports' property packages) by a team led by John Schleef. Rocket Surgery and Ross Video provided AR integration. They also posted a complete gallery of most elements used on screen.

NBC's Super Bowl ratings are in: 99.2 million viewers watched on the linear network, and the Spanish simulcast on Telemundo averaged a mere 1.9 million (not surprising, given NBC offered exactly the same audio feed on their SAP track). The halftime show averaged 103.4 million, and the peak was established at 104.4 million exactly before the gig. Together with Peacock (which offered both feeds for free), NBC Sports Live Extra (offered to MVPD subscribers), and NFL Media feeds thru the NFL apps, the Rams and Bengals digital services and Yahoo Sports, reached a total of 167 million viewers, of who 112.3 million went to the TAD core average. Winter Olympic coverage, however, only had an audience of 24 million viewers.

World feed commentary issue on the PSG vs Real Madrid match tonight after about 8 minutes there was German commentary behind the English commentary. It seemed to be on the effects / crowd only sound as this audio was dipped and then silenced and Martin Tyler and Alan Smith commentated with no crowd noise for a few uncomfortably sounding minutes.

By "exclusive dialogue" they mean nobody else is interested. Is a possibility Canada may bid for the Centennial Games in 2030 (they hosted the first) but they've also their eye on the Winter Olympics which would take priority I'd imagine.

I assume that "exclusive dialogue" is a very similar process to the IOC's "targeted dialogue" with Brisbane for the 2032 Summer Olympics, that is they've cut most of the long and expensive bid competition process out of the timeline to try and get more potential parties interested. The point remains though that only once in the first 30 years of this century the Commonwealth Games would be hosted outside of the UK or Australia. Correct that Hamilton is planning a bid for 2030. It seems Vancouver/British Columbia is the Canadian city/province leading a 2030 Winter Olympic bid, up against Barcelona, Salt Lake City and Sapporo, which seems a less problamtaic line-up than China and Kazakhstan that were in the running for 2022.

The German commentary was also heard on RTÉ2 last night when Darragh Maloney & Ray Houghton were doing commentary for that match for FTA viewers in Ireland.
