I think Celebrity Lingo is inevitable too, probably suits the 6pm slot on a Saturday quite well? Or maybe 7pm Sunday which has Sitting On A Fortune in before Christmas.

As repeat episodes, usually of the celeb versions, if the weekday quizzes now seem to be a permanent weekend afternoon fixture, sport permitting, I think working some new episodes into late-weekend afternoon, would be good - and Celebrity Lingo is a good show to do that with. I'm not sure it's quite 6pm or 7pm material (then again, neither was Tipping Point really) but it would certainly slot in well at weekends around 5pm rather than seeing a Celeb Chase episode that has aired so often you can practically answer the questions before they come up.

How long did it take for us to ger celebrity editions of The Chase and Tipping Point?

True. Do they actually commission for 5pm on a Saturday though?

I think I remember the Celebrity editions of Supermarket Sweep airing there, as I thought it was the earliest they’d done new shows. Plus both that and Lingo are 3pm weekday shows.

Good news - didn't set ratings alight but was well received and a second series should do better than starting again.


In other news The Cube US is being recommissioned and they are (sensibly) reviving the Trial Run lifeline, replacing the lifeline of the host attempting the challenge from the $50k mark upwards.

I’m not expecting the UK version to be back though, considering it didn’t do too well last year and the bosses couldn’t have had much faith in it considering it was shown at the same time as Strictly.

I would have thought it would be in ITV's best interest to keep it going on TV especially as this attraction has just recently opened in Manchester -

Both are independent productions though, so ITV are unlikely to have any financial interest just as C4 don't. Indeed the Crystal Maze experience came first and arguably led to the revival, with the pilot filmed at the London experience.

Not surprising - it attracts a different demo to many Saturday night shows, stands out as something different and they never outright axed it.

Similar to The Cube, it is highly thought of in some quarters but it doesn't rate that well. I'm sure if the new shows that have launched on ITV since it was last on had been a success then it wouldn't be getting recommissioned.
