Quote:The UK Paralympic broadcaster will bring over 80 hours and present the Games live from Beijing on Channel 4, plus streaming on C4’s YouTube platform.
So no presenters based in the UK this time?
Joining in from Paris, France.

C4 love their YouTube channel, though practically that'll be easier to use than their mini-site was for the last games. They really need to upgrade All4 though to be able to host additional live streams considering they're increasingly offering extra sport online.
The Winter Paralympic schedule is pretty streamlined really - basically snowsports overnights and then curling and ice hockey throughout the night and then through the morning, so wrapping up coverage with the breakfast show and then just streaming the later events, unless they're medal matches, makes sense.

There isn't much more than 200 hours to show. Probably about 6 hours of snow sports a day, up to 8 hours of hockey and how ever many rinks of the curling get broadcast coverage. Given where they were - indeed given where we were in 2010 with just an hour of TV coverage - a primetime slot for the Winter Paralympics really is progress for American coverage.

It seems that they are trying to adapt to the criticism of their overall quite mediocre coverage: they are increasing live coverage and finally succumbed to pressure of airing the ceremonies in its (almost) entirety live and then going for the edited version for primetime (as a highlight broadcast) and given some expertise to counter the ignorant commentary they usually do on ceremonies. And given the past circumstances of Olympic and Paralympic coverage, so they are trying to adapt their production and broadcast methods: linear viewership is down, but streaming figures are going up.
And, in the case of the Paralympics, after doing just highlights in 2010 and nothing (sic) in 2012, they have since increased the number of hours: from a whooping 114 in 2014 (exclusively on the now-defunct NBCSN) to over 1,200 hours in Tokyo (but only aired in cable). Having primetime on NBC is a sign they will be some primetime coverage for Paris 2024 in the broadcast network.
Channel 4 have scheduled the Opening Ceremony coverage on Friday from 11:30-13:40, and Ade Adepitan will be presenting it. Can't find the details on who will be commentating for C4
The actual Opening Ceremony is billed to only last 100 minutes, and even though there are fewer countries at the Winter Paralympics than at the Winter Olympics, I can't help but suspect that it'll run over just the Winter Olympic OC did
Interestingly the host nation’s CCTV does not plan wall to wall coverage, only 6.5 hours of coverage on its sport channel - and there are still lots of pre-recorded other matches throughout the day.

The Winter Paralympics isn't really wall to wall coverage though - there are curling and hockey matches staggered throughout the day but the snow events all take place in a 3-4 hour window during the day. The schedule is near identical to 2018 so in our case there is live action from about 1.30am overnight, and then the afternoon curling slots into the breakfast slot, with coverage ending at 9am. After that there are a couple of hockey fixtures and an evening curling session which here, and I suspect in China and many other countries, are only getting streamed. I thought C4 might at least put the lunchtime curling games featuring Team GB on More4 or 4Seven at lunchtime (would be 11.30-2), but looks like they'll be online only.
At the moment highlights are in a half hour slot after the news at 7.30pm, but with things as they are that might change if C4 News gets the full hour back. The late night repeat of the highlights is around 3am on More4, presumably with AD and signing.
