The listings show its slot at being 10:25pm - 10:50pm, which is 25 minutes. But iPlayer states its duration as being "30 minutes". ? Was it one of those situations where its de-facto length was somewhere between the two (e.g. 26½ minutes, or something)?
This morning's repeat has been allocated a 30-minute slot at 8:30am, with the BBC One simulcast of Breakfast lasting about an hour longer than would typically be the case on a Sunday during the Football Season.
If MOTD does have an awkward "in-betweeny" length as speculated above, they can always do some sleight-of-hand (i.e. have Breakfast go right up to 08:30:00 or even a bit beyond, and/or pad-out with trailers, so that MOTD actually starts at e.g. 08:32:17 or whatever). Very occasionally they have a single match when it's an especially big game. I remember once there being a Manchester derby with both teams fighting for the title on a Monday night, it was live on Sky Sports then with Match of the Day highlights later that night. But I imagine with that, unless already covered by their contract at the time, they had special dispensation or something.

Yes - certainly been the occassional Monday night or midweek edition for just one fixture. I'm sure there has been the odd occassion in recent years where for various reasons only one PL fixture has taken place on the Saturday too, and indeed on the Sunday - for example due to the latter stages of the FA Cup or the League Cup Final on the Sunday for example.

There have been plenty of examples. There was one last Christmas where two matches became one because of Covid, and inevitably Newcastle vs Liverpool, for it was that, ended 0-0.
And of course there have been several Sundays where there's only been one match.

No, but the community feature has been a part of the Sunday MOTD repeat since I think it came back in 2004. Presumably it's something they offer to do as part of their contract with the Premier League, it obviously has a large audience of kids on Sunday mornings. What's interesting is that it's never promoted and isn't on the version on iPlayer, so most people probably aren't aware that it exists. They've shown a few on Football Focus but certainly not all of them.
Other than that the repeat is identical. That's different to when it was on ITV when the repeat was a re-edit with the punditry removed to fit it into an hour. Des says in his book that when The Premiership was moved from 7pm to 10.30, he said they should pre-record it rather than hang around to do it live, but he was told they couldn't in case of breaking news - to which he argued that by that regard they should do the Sunday repeat Iive.
Des' argument was that managers don't get sacked on Saturday nights, but that's probably not the case these days.

I was looking at tonight's schedule on BBC One either online & the Radio Times. The various Covid outbreaks that have been hampering the football in the PL & WSL this weekend are now shortening their highlights programmes tonight to reflect the unexpected lack of games being played in the lead up to Christmas.
This is what I found on the online schedule.
10:30pm - 11:25pm MOTD 2
11:25pm -11:45pm The Women's Football Show
11:45pm - 1:45am Spiderman: Far From Home
The Radio Times Christmas Guide was obviously was showing schedules for slightly longer programmes with Spiderman Far from Home beginning at 12:15am

The first award winner of the night...
To the presentation itself, I don't think much has changed from previous editions thus far. The show has got a good tempo going despite only having awarded one trophy in the first 50 minutes (I'd rather the awards were not as end-heavy). I also stick with my opinion that four presnters is one or two many for a programme but they have made it work quite well; Gabby & Gary and Clare & Alex have split into two seperate pairings handing links and interviews, an idea which makes the ensemble of presenters work better.
So a very strange ending to RedZone from NFL Network, for those watching outside the US.
It seems that for contractural reasons, if the late “quasi national” game is on Fox, and if it is the last game left in play, then NFL RedZone (regardless of any promises of “seven hours of commercial free football”) must sign off and let viewers in the US tune to Fox. This has happened before, and there was obviously complaints that international broadcasters of the NFL might not necessarily be showing the same game, or even if they are, that they are available to the same subscribers (eg in the U.K., RedZone is on the basic tier Sky Sports Mix, while the main coverage is on premium tier Sky Sports NFL). (This doesn’t seem to apply when CBS have the late quasi national game, btw)
So Redzone did a bit of a split tonight. Once the second to last game to finish was over, Redzone was abruptly cut off, and International viewers got a feed of Fox to finish the Green Bay v Baltimore game (with a Back Soon card during US commercials). Once that was finished, a time shifted version of the “every touchdown from every game” montage was broadcast. I gather that in the US, the broadcast concluded with the usual sign off, but with the Green Bay v Baltimore game still in play.

The 4th round also tricky as it is also the first round of the Six Nations, so for ITV especially extra time would be problematic.

If the PL is suffering with rising cases of Covid as we head into the new year. What does that do for the predicted impact be on UEFA's tournaments & European Qualifiers in 2022. Is Omicron having any effect on other football clubs who take part in the ECL, EL & UCL?

From The Times this morning, it sounds as if BT have realized that just replacing Fox commentary when Vaughan in on won't work, and so they are looking to doing their own commentary in totality.
