I have just seen the Christmas Day prime time schedules in America, and we complain how crap our Christmas Night schedules are, the American networks are appalling.
NBC Prime Time = 8.00pm Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. 8.30pm - 11.00pm How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000).
CBS Prime Time = 8.00pm NCIS Los Angeles. 9.00pm - 11.00pm 48 Hours.
ABC Prime Time = 7.00pm NBA Countdown Live. 8.00pm NBA Basketball Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers. 10.30pm - 11.00pm Black-ish Compton Around the Christmas Tree.
FOX Prime Time = 4.30pm NFL Football Cleveland Browns vs. Green Bay Packers. 8.00pm - 10.00pm Boxing Premier Champions. Vito Mielnicki Jr. vs. Nicholas DeLomba
I mean, we complain about the copy and paste approach of BBC One for Christmas Day, but in my opinion, it is better than this schedule from the American networks.

It is what it is in America though and think Britain is fairly rare in having a strong Christmas Day schedule. They also have their own traditions on the day itself (NBA, NFL, Dr Seuss) and in the run up (Charlie Brown for example). I would say CBS is letting the side down there though.

What's CW doing? Repeating that Beebo Saves Christmas special (which is a spin-off from DC's Legends of Tomorrow) from a few weeks ago? Or are they as bad as CBS, which is one of their two parent companies.

The CW has the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball 2021 at 8pm and Whose Line is it Anyway at 9.30pm.
To be fair though in the run up to Christmas they've had quite a few specials - dipped their toe in the Christmas movie market, had the new Waltons revival and traditional classic to a US audience like Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. The difference is their Christmas programming begins in late-November rather than being concentrated around a few days.

A flavour of the Aussie schedules, including the BBC's and C4's flagship animations hours before they air in the UK.

ITV have also been running a "Daytime on ITV" trailer with the four usual live shows, which other than GMB (and technically Lorraine) are not running this week other than their pre-recorded Christmas Day editions (Xmas Eve for Loose Women).

It seems now that on Christmas Day television, there is no appointment to view big programme to attract viewers. There was always some key show in air to bring in viewers. Now in 2021 it seems just a very lazy approach to schedules, using the old excuse of streaming and online now taking away audiences. That is a pathetic excuse.

I think the effort is still there but it's all a bit familiar. Tonight is one of the strongest nights of the week IMO, and often the real gems are away from the big day itself.

Is this the first year in some time there isn't an Only Fools and Horses rerun in the BBC1 schedules?

They usually get an outing one afternoon.
