The interesting thing is the suggestion that some senior political journalists were present at that party. Of course nothing confirmed and much of it probably the usual accusations of political editors being in bed with the government, but it would explain how such a big secret remained so for almost a year. If any broadcast journalists were found to be involved I suspect they'll be held more accountable than any of the politicians involved.
Presentation wise though and I think the clip also highlights why these press conferences were a none starter. The public would never have really accepted a press spokesman speaking on behalf of the government.

If it is true that senior or otherwise journalists were at the alleged party, then many heads are going to have to roll. But it will only sadly further damage the trust in the public and the media. Some well known anti MSM are already lapping it up and perhaps rightly so on this occasion.

She's actually done the rounds. I remember her as Newsnight's Political Editor before she moved to ITV News as National Editor. It's then she joined Peston and then to Downing Street. This error of judgment will stain her good and proper.

Re. The press room. Does anyone know when it was actually completed? The news reports suggest the Allegra Stratton clip was filmed on 22 December 2020 but, AIUI, the room/set wasn't finished until March 2021? That was when the first pictures appeared online with a quote from a Downing Street spokesperson.
So was the set actually constructed by December 2020?

It's normal for an installation not to be publicised (by either the installer or the client) until it's been fully accepted, de-snagged, and handed over Quite possible it was commissioned in December, but not handed over until March (particularly when the client is a public organisation)

It's worth recalling there was a long and public campaign to encourage Allegra to apply for the role when she was working for Rishi Sunak. Some former colleagues wondered at the time what Allegra could possibly gain from taking this on.
