Magic is currently playing with no DOG or programme info graphics but the song graphics are still working. Appears to have been like this for over an hour so far.

That's a much better worded caption than the current ones, given how many breakdowns are actually during junctions rather than a "break in the programme"

Slight technical hitch on Eurosport 2, between frames at the snooker. At the end of the ad break, we got coverage of the biathlon on Eurosport 1 for about 30 seconds, before switching back to the UK championship!

Here’s an odd one from 30 years ago, Central hands over to TV-am and nothing happens until the white on blue caption gets put on air. I wonder whether the fault would have been exclusive to Central or whether it would have been networked. (From 31:55 in)

That's a good catch, interesting to see what Jobfinder was when it wasn't just teletext pages too

The blue and white caption is the one that appeared automatically when there was a lack of video. Presumably when there was no video signal they messed up the syncs which messed up the whole thing including the audio.

Could have been just one region or one transmitter or everywhere, unlikely we'd see another example from that morning to compare

Like many of these, it would be impossible to find out now.
We could ask Central to sort through the log books at Central House, if the building hadn't been demolished.
We could ask the IBA to go through their log books, but they were disbanded.
There many be a few people who worked on this, but it would rely on 30 year old memories, which aren't the best even if you can find the right people.
Maybe TV-am were told what happened, but again they no longer exist.
We may have to accept that this will remain one of mankinds' great unanswered riddles.

But you could take an educated guess that the cock up was at BT's end with the switch from Central to TV-am?

Yes it is possible, but could be other factors too, BT making a switch that had been incorrectly booked for example.
Truth is we will be unlikely to ever confirm what happened 30 years on.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for it but has anyone else had issues with reception for Sky News and Sky Arts on Freeview today? Both seem to be unavailable - but I can't work out if it's my television or something else (other channels fine).

It's not the right thread at all, but you will need to see if any other channels that broadcast on COM 5 (where Sky Arts and News both broadcast on) are working. Pick, Challenge, Dave, 4 Music and 4seven are some of them. If they are not there either then it is a problem that you are not receiving that Multiplex, which could be a fault with you or a transmitter issue.
EDIT - I can confirm that both channels are fine on Crystal Palace Freeview COM 5,
