Big news coming out of Dallas: ABC affiliate WFAA is moving out of its Victory Park studio and plans to remodel its WFAA Communications Center Studios in Young Street, in the process of redevelopment, in early 2022. NewscastStudio has a inside look at the move.

I always found it a bit strange that they used a studio in a separate location from the rest of their operation for so much of their output, but didn't even make that much use of the windows.

I can understand it for the likes of WABC or WLS. Their streetside studios are in their regular buildings so, as they're not paying any extra for the privilege, it makes no odds whether the output reflects the location. But I've never really understood WFAA's approach.

The news is a few days old now, but it's not been mentioned here yet. CBS This Morning's Anthony Mason is being replaced with former NFL player and current CBS pundit/host of Good Morning Football Nate Burleson.

I have mixed views about this as Anthony Mason is one of CBS News' best talents, and when he got the CTM job it finally felt like he was getting the recognition he deserved. However the show obviously isn't performing as well as they'd like so changes must be made. Nate's an entertaining host, and will definitely bring another dimension to CTM.
I assume this will coincide with the show's move to Times Square, however there's no mention of the move in the CBS article.

It also obviously rings bells of GMA bringing in former NFL player Michael Strahan a few years back, so I do hope it's not a sign of CBS reverting to a more Today/GMA style show - and will stick to it's USP of no-strings news and current affairs.

CBS NEWS really is awful at sticking with something then they wonder why they are third place. The current team meshed well and were great, but no they have to change things because reasons. CBS Evening News has done the same mess of not letting an anchor set in before trying to change it.

I don't think it's totally fair criticism that they are not sticking with anchors long enough. Yes, they have tried out a whole lot of people. But sticking with something that doesn't work is also foolish. They've given everyone a fair shot. Jeff Glor was given just about two years on the CBS Evening News. Anthony Mason has been on CBS This Morning for over two years. That's more than enough to see if they are catching on with an audience, as lots of research and focus groups will undoubtedly have been done.

Leaving the CBS This Morning talent changes for a while, Nexstar is all in again. Today they announced the acquisition of the influential (and often controversial) digital political brand The Hill from the estate of Jerry Finkelstein and investing company HRS Management for $130 million. The transaction was completed also today, with Finkelstein's son Jimmy stepping down as chairman. Under Nexstar's operating divisions, The Hill will be placed in the Nexstar, Inc. division of national brands, which means that the brand will be sharing resources mostly with the struggling NewsNation network, and this hopes to boost the station's otherwise poor content and viewing figures. It will be also located alongside WGN Radio, the Antenna TV diginet (which will launch a spinoff, Rewind TV, on September 1, focusing on more recent shows, mostly from the 80s), with the Zap2it, Yashi and BestReviews digital brands, and the Lakana digital publishing provider.

NewsNation's breakfast programme that starts on the 27th ,has a promo

The name of the programme is "Morning in America" which is from a Reagan speech.

The newscast is going for Newsnation's heartland focus. The promo uses words from a mixture of speeches from Presidents (including Reagan) Like Theodore Roosevelt, Joe Biden, too, bust mostly Reagan. Unexpected and sudden changes coming at KCPQ, the Fox O&O in Seattle, WA: the Q13 brand used by the station since 1980 (when it was privatised) is being dropped, according to Federal Communications Comission filings. The most likely reason: management changes over at the station, as longtime executive Pamela Pearson retired in May, being replaced by former KMSP/WFTC general manager Sheila Oliver. Oliver is changing the brands of both KCPQ and sister MNTV outlet KZJO (currently branded as Joe TV) to look more like the Twin Cities duopoly, with KCPQ adopting the more corporate Fox 13 brand, and KZJO becoming Fox 13 Plus (a similar convention has been used by MNTV O&Os in Dallas, Atlanta and Phoenix, as well as in the Twin Cities and independent KICU in San Francisco as KTVU Plus).

There is no date still for the changes, but this is really a sad moment for Seattle TV, as the Q13 brand managed to survive three acquisitions, and is very well known by Northwest viewers. Fox had got looser with its local branding mandates in more recent years, and the Q13 brand was being retained by Fox, as proved by the most recent refresh of the Q13 logo last year, which straightened the borders of the Q and a new font for the 13 glyphs to make it more in line with the new Fox brand.

Widely expected. I understand they will be calling it the CBS News Channel when programming on the main CBS network, just as when the BBC calls the BBC News Channel when referring to it on other services.
