One of my all time favourites. The dramatic opening shot flying in across Lake Michigan toward the skyline. Fading to the slow journey down the Chicago River ending on the final shot of the gothic masterpiece, the Tribune Tower. The former home and former parent company the Tribune company. THis of course was pre-drone days. So special permission was likely needed to fly a chopper so low across the city. Good One. Bonus is the station ident. With its icon music.

Incidently the female anchor, Alison Payne was only 56 years old, sadly just passed away this week. After suffering from an long illness that resulted in her 20 year run at WGN being cut prematurely. Sad end to an amazing anchor and journalist.

Here's a few of mine (a couple have already been posted – VRT's Het Journaal and BBC News in the "virtual era").

NRK's Dagsrevyen, Norway (2015-present)
https://youtu.be/CaPHyd1e4Sw

TVE's Telediario, Spain (2021-present)
https://youtu.be/KJq458aKWps

SVT's Rapport, Sweden (2019-present)

ABC News, Australia (1991-98, and 2017-present)
https://youtu.be/b3ZFdTuGx2E

ITN Lunchtime and Early Evening News (1995-99)

https://youtu.be/_yLs_8TMzCU

BBC Newsnight (1988-93)
https://youtu.be/TqxA3Inlzrw

ARD's Tagesschau and Tagesthemen, Germany (2014-present)

Welt Nachrichten, Germany (2021-present)
https://youtu.be/EsZyRk1fhN8

France Info's Le Journal (2016-present)

Honourable mentions go to Channel 4 News for keeping their great theme for so long, Denmark's TV Avisen for ripping their intro off the BBC but still managing to make it better than the original, and TVNZ's One News Tonight for being delightfully calm and soothing, unlike the harsh brass tones of many late-night news bulletins.

There are a number of nominations in this thread that I completely agree with. But one I'd add to the list is from New Zealand's One News between 2004 and 2006. I've always thought this was a well-rounded and distinctive package.

And also from NZ, an honourable mention to the last 3 News package:

For me in terms of British ones there is A LOT of ones that I like. Both the "flags" and the "virtual" eras of BBC News are amazing.

I'll go into something that haven't been shown on this thread yet. I really like both 1993 and 2002 intros for Carlton/LWT's London Tonight.
I know "dynamic capital" is a cliché, but I think they really get you pumped up for the news.

In terms of abroad intros some of really really good examples have been given here already, intros like NRK's Dagsrevyen, France Info, ABC News, new intro of TVE's Telediario and ARD's Tagesscahu are just a few of my favourites. I didn't expect it to become one of my favourites, but I must say I love the new look of ZDF's Heute. It's very modern and understated.

I think Heute Journal's intro is especially good.

They're from before I was born, but the News at One intros from the early and mid '80s. Surely no-one can deny that the theme tune is one of the best ever for a UK news bulletin.

And I don't think WPVI-TV Action News has been mentioned up to now... Wink

I just rememebered this one, from WGRZ in Buffalo NY from the mid 1980's . I love the music first and the graphics tie it together , the blinking Buffalo beakon going until it zooms in is a nice touch.

I also just loved Sue & Nick. They were just perfect, assured, confident and equals.
