Feedback!

Absolutely stellar work on the new forum Rob - I'm sure that everyone will settle in before long!

I have a small bit of feedback and thought it might be a good idea to have a thread for this (feel free to lock and chuck away if you disagree!)

I'll kick things off with... navigation!

It's not particularly easy to jump from forum to forum right now - I see the jump to links at the very bottom of the forums, but it'd be nice if we had some persistent forum navigation near the top somewhere Smile

No objections to a feedback thread AJ. Might be good to have everything in one place.

The plan is to ditch all the links at the top and replace them with the forum links eventually.

There is a "Jump To" bit at the bottom of every page but I feel that would be better towards the top.
Or alternatively the names of each forum across the top on every page like on TV Forum was very useful to me.

Good idea on the feedback thread.

The dark skin has some font/colour issues but I have already messaged Rob and I think I've saw a few others mention issues with the dark theme so I'm sure it's being addressed. I've switched back to the default 'light' theme for now.

Don't know if this is due to limitations on your end or the forum host but it would be nice to have it so you could upload a link for your profile picture rather than having to set up a Gravatar account. Obviously if you can't implement this then that's fine, it didn't really take me long to set up Gravatar anyway! Smile

The dark theme is built into the off-the-shelf theme that's used here and on metropol. It's the first version of it that came out in the latest update so it should be considered a beta and it'll improve as newer versions of that theme are released.

We had similar issues with the standard metropol dark red not quite working so there's a bit of trial and error involved.

I'd rather stick to Gravatar to be honest, it's very easy to use and maintain, and I don't have to host hundreds of avatars.

Understandable! Don't want to cause you any hassle having to host them all. Good experience so far, no issues as of yet! Lovely work.

Yeah no worries, I assumed it'd be something like this. At least it's been noted and you're all aware of it. Cheers!

Excellent. I also used to eat lobster and caviar while looking at TV Forum, so when you're ready please Big Grin

Sorry, budget cuts, you'll have to make do with beans on toast. Smile

I keep seeing comments about layout that then change before I realise what they're talking about, good work, and all changes for the better though!

This is probably a big thing to do, unless it's built into the software already, but is there a compact mode? The large avatar and user side panel on each post is massive and there's so much blank space around and between some posts. As I mentioned on the Welcome thread the top banner comes down almost half the screen too. It's a lot more flabbier than TVF, but yeah I understand that's a custom forum, not off the shelf!

To be awkward, I've been using the unread posts page in a similar fashion to Multiview at TVF - and now I can't see that linked to anywhere?

Click on home, and it's in that dropdown menu. I'll find a better solution at some point. Smile
