Your favourite Ident packages

For music and I'm probably alone- HTV 1993 is up there. Yes it sounds like a disgruntled ice cream van and the CAs clearly hated it but I takes me back to holidays in Wiltshire.

Moving back again- Yorkshire 1984, when the jingle was much more toned down compared to the late 1970s.

Idents wise, another vote Westcountry 1993 till the end in 1999. They were a class act on reflection and with Frank Copplestone being around, you get an image of what Southern could have become post 1982.

I'm with you on that (HTV 93) the branding wasn't earth shattering, but I liked the jingle, for nostalgic reasons! However I think v2 was better, the less icy/weird and more upbeat version. Again with Westcountry, I agree, these have held up well looking back now, but at the time they seemed so dull when the trend was to have your logo whizzing around.

The 2004 Channel 4 idents are probably the best of modern times though.

I like both TVS's 1987 and 1989 packages, but I kind of think that the TVS logo on the latter looks a bit like... a glass/an acrylic tube? So I like the metallic look in the former more.

(and yes, the "TVS Television" branding is also a letdown: They could've named the entire company "South Entertainment" or something like that, but they chose to stick with TVS...)
Now on TVTalk, Pres Café and DeviantArt. Goodbye to all that, TVLF.

Good Question. It may surprise some people, but I actually have a fondness for the ITV Hearts Idents, due to them being what ITV looked like when I was a toddler. I remember the spinning hearts, and the chilled music being quite visually pleasing to a young me. While I now know their history, and their part in ending an era of independent ITV presentation, I do still love them. I really do.
The BBC One Balloon idents are another favourite. Again, I remember loving the music on those idents, and the visuals of a balloon flying around the country. Both of these were around when I was a toddler, so call that my personal nostalgia for the past as well.

And I cannot miss out the initial BBC Three idents. Three is a Magic Number, after all.

In terms of current ident packages, I really like the 'Curve' package that BBC Two has, and the Channel 5 idents too. I like the latter, in particular, because of the glowing, and the shadows that are cast. I genuinely love it.
