If not I suspect Wimbledon will get the chop. Has anyone evidence of two such UHD feeds previously?

Were the final group matches last week both shown in UHD or only the BBC One game? Also, the Wimbledon final of 2018 clashed with the World Cup final if Wimbledon did then have UHD access on the iPlayer (I got a feeling it didn't).
No, it was just the games on BBC One.

The World Cup Final and Wimbledon Men’s final in 2018 were both in UHD on iPlayer. I think that’s the only time they’ve had simultaneous live UHD streams.

Such a shame the news can't be curtailed to a 30 minute slot like it is for the football to give BBC1 a 1.30pm start as well. Knowing the BBC they'll leave an outdoor court match on BBC2 to join Court 1 at 1pm, then interrupt that for 20 minutes waiting for BBC1 to join.

P.S. Also think it might have been worth keeping Newsnight at 10.45pm a bit longer and trialling Today at Wimbledon at 10pm, with main coverage ending at 9pm.

It really is about time they moved the news to 12:00 during Wimbeldon fortnight to avoid the inevitable channel hopping.

They also won't shift the extended Politics Live on Wednesday so you have coverage starting on BBC One, moving to BBC Two and then returning to BBC One.
I suspect if they did this there would be complaints about the news being shuffled about. Wimbledon gets continuous coverage on at least one channel throughout - that is a serious commitment given there are only two channels available for most of the day.
Let them complain. The 6pm news has been moved all over the place the last couple of weeks for the football and the 1pm news shortened when necessary (to as short as 15 mins inc regional news). Moving it for two weeks to accomodate the start time of the show courts at Wimbledon makes so much sense and improves coverage on both channels - and this year with the 1.30pm start on Centre (which I assume has been moved from 1pm so there is a staggering of fans arriving for Centre and Court 1) means all they'd have to do is run a shortened edition, something they've done numerous times over the last couple of weeks.

Same titles as last time, but a new look studio

I wonder if they will be studio bound this year, as they'd usually present from outside more often than not

Also, typically, they've come on air very early at 10:30am to allow some build up, and now play has been delayed until 11:30 due to rain!

It bizarrely feels a bit like June 2020 rather than June 2021, now events are happening again, life feels like it is moving slowly to normal. I wonder if they had this set in storage or last years set got "binned".

Already having to show rain delay replays.

Yup, very disappointing to see the same old titles that they've used for several years now - they've only had 2 years to come up with something different. Not a fan of the new set either. Can't wait for play to get underway on the show courts ?

The Replay icon could be a bit further to the right of the screen couldn’t it? Or would that move it out of a safe area?

That much be one of the oldest graphics used by BBC Sport.

The studio feels a bit BBC regional news - seems a bigger space than usual but just doesn't feel as high spec as other BBC Sport studios now, or indeed on brand with yet another style BBC Sport desk. It does feel somewhat cut off from the action too - almost as if they're not actually on site and it's just screens behind them rather than windows.

The ridiculousness of not shortening the news now very evident - BBC2 interrupting a match half an hour in to join Centre Court for the introductions and opening games, which within 15 minutes will move to BBC1 and BBC2 will rejoin the match they had. Considering they won't move the second half of a football match to BBC2 there is no excuse not to make allowances in the BBC1 schedule for the known Wimbledon start time.

Great to see the world feed intro hasn't changed either. Almost perfection.

Felt compelled to finally sign up for an account to say I agree with this! Absolute shambles.

I looked on the iPlayer app on my phone to continue watching the match (which is highly entertaining, despite the score line), but all I could see was "Wimbledon Day 1 Part 1" and Centre Court -- both showing the same footage! Eventually found the match on the BBC Sport website.

Twenty-five minutes later, BBC2 has finally returned to the match.

Must say in general it's now far trickier to find live content on the iPlayer than when they had the dedicated BBC Sport TV app.

What summed up the nonsense for me though was that whilst Draper was breaking the defending champion on BBC2 on BBC1 they were talking to Carol about the weather.

It's quite incovenient of Parliament not to move PMQs to an earlier time in recognition of the tennis. Big Grin Big Grin
I meant swap channel, put Politics Live on BBC One so that Wimbledon doesn't have to change channel at 1pm.

I wonder if they will keep Andy Murray on BBC One this evening and if there is any danger of the match breaking the curfew.

There is a half-hour break on Centre Court and No. 1 Court between each match which the schedulers could use to their advantage if they were clever enough to do so.

It is rare they bump a match to BBC1 before the third round and they won't want to displace EastEnders and Holby with football already bumping them out of the schedule tomorrow.
