The thing that’s struck me most is how unhappy Simon McCoy looks, even when discussing the lighter segments - not like him.

Isn’t that his whole schtick? Pretty much every “viral” moment he created at the BBC involved him being grumpy about something.

I think the point is, it’s coming across as genuine now.

The whole incident with him ranting about joke names seemed really out of character for him IMO.

Same here, Michelle was natural here and when she takes off the persona while interviewing the dog owner comes over as really nice.

Yeah, I think a lot of inexperienced people go into what they think is 'newsreader' or 'presenter' role without realising that those who are successful are just a slightly adjusted version of their natural selves on screen. It looks easy, but it's very hard. I'd like to see her do well with the show.

So far no Zoom interviews and more in-person (which presumably is the intention behind '& Co') makes it a better show.

I think what has helped is they moved Michelle to the soft area, which has made the show format a lot less informal. It feels more like a daytime show than one where they were going hard on the topics on Mon/Tues. The interview with Theo Paphitis again sounds natural and interesting, which she struggled with on Monday and Tuesday.

I don't know what the on-air talent were told yesterday but certainly Michelle and Alex are the most improved today.

She seems a lot more relaxed doing interviews and was ad-libbing comfortably at times. Questions nothing to write home about, but it was nice to be able to just watch for 15 minutes without worrying about slow vision mixing or poor camera angles. Helps that Theo is a pleasant guest. That set is lit sufficiently well for me, though it feels more natural for evening shows.

Don't know what system they're using but the way the guests just disappear makes me wonder if they're somehow accidentally ejecting them from the system as they set up other guests.
