Guy Opperman MP, Pensions Minister (Cons)
and they are due to have Rishi Sunak MP, Chancellor (Cons) on Andrew Neil tonight.

We were told we would hear from the Labour Shadow Pensions Minister, but they couldn't come on due to technical problems. I don't want to get into political opinion here - we know how this channel leans. My point is that they must be aware this imbalance would raise Ofcom concerns. Maybe a degree of balance will be worked in over the coming days (?). At the moment, I'm not seeing a lot of evidence of the 'LBC approach' to compliance we thought they would take.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if before long we see a number of the presenters quitting. For those who’ve come from established, competent channels, it must be excruciating to have to put up with such an utter shambles. The working atmosphere must be terrible at the moment too with everything going wrong.

Being the face of this mess must be so embarrassing. There must be some who think that the sooner they’re not associated with it, the less worse their chances of being employed again elsewhere in the industry.

Where would the big names like McCoy and Brazier go? They certainly wouldn't go back, tail between legs, to their former employers. They would struggle to find a permanent gig straight away, Brazier with his history of slighty iffy ethics even more so

I actually think McCoy might have gotten away with returning to the BBC, had he not admitted to voting Leave in that Telegraph interview. As for Brazier, well if they ever plan on remaking Drop the Dead Donkey, they have a perfect replacement for Damien Day...

I certainly couldn't see McCoy returning to the BBC or Brazier to Sky News. But I see no reason why neither of them could ever turn up on Al Jazeera, CNN or even ITV News. And if they're otherwise out of options, there's always RT.

These local reports every hour are next to useless. The Welsh reporter appear to be having a nice day out in Cardiff with the only news that people are out drinking ahead of the football later. The Stansted reports doesn’t add anything new although I guess it’s fairly interesting to see how quiet the airport is. We seem to get a bit of a covid update from the Birmingham reporter based on a pavement although I’m not sure the locals are actually banned from travelling outside of their neighbourhood as the reporter keeps saying?.

Another 'Nationwide' segment that is utterly dreadful to watch.

Content aside, the technical's for all 4 of the local reports are just not coping as well as they have been before today. Not sure if the setup has changed at all, but they all seem very juddery. The audio isn't great either, but I think this is more background noise from reporters who aren't actually taking yet!

I dread to think how ratings will be like in August which is usually a quiet period for news stories. The trivial stories that Simon McCoy used to roll his eyes at on Afternoon Live might make a comeback on his new show.

I couldn't work that out either as its quite easy to conduct a pre-recorded top headshot/guest looking off camera interview whilst being socially distant. I've done several over the past year.

I don't think I've seen the Wales reporter interview anyone this week. I believe all the local reporters have, either live or via the rare small inserts during the hits.
