I think that's part of the problem and the opportunity that GB News has identified.
I am ambivalent personally about taking the knee so I have no horse in this race but there is a frame of mind on both the left and the right that if you disagree with them on some aspect of their philosophy, it must be hiding something sinister like racism, sexism, homophobia, and so on.
While in some cases that may be true, there is an inherent unfairness to applying it to everyone hence people take the offence that they do.
I would love GB News and all other outlets to thoroughly test and examine the reasons and assumptions behind the way the world is (or appears to be) because:
a) it might make great TV, and
b) it might mean, God forbid, that different sides might better appreciate others' points of view and tolerate them a bit more without acting to namecalling and shouting.
That makes Mr Wooton a strange choice in my opinion if this is GB News's intention.

It feels like the 'what's going on, not what's going wrong' is the PR line, but the reality is that it's business-as-usual journalism, focusing mainly on bad news stories.

They did a Grenfell interview yesterday afternoon as well.
There's already enough interesting, "nuanced" material being generated in daytime for them to rerun an hour or so of clips in the evening, for people who don't want angry, shouty, "culture wars" stuff (with, to be honest, the usual commentators). Maybe presenter linked, or even just wipes between items.
Production calamities aside, it occurs to me that without any actual news, this news-talk format is very heavily reliant on having a high turnover of guests. Without them, you just have dull chatter about the same couple of pet topics.
I wonder how long it's going to take before they have exhausted their contact books of people with something to plug or issues to push?
My fear is that it could just end up with the same few guests in high rotation, inevitably just chiming in on the same pet topics that the presenters have already talked to death.

I was thinking about this last night while watching Wootton. How often until we see the same guests on his panel over and over again? Will get pretty boring unless they can mix it up.

Also a London based story, but of course goes beyond that. Most of all though it is a story about social injustice, something which by definition their "anti-woke" stance actually goes against.
The channel just doesn't seem to be on the pulse either, discussing yesterdays and last weeks issues rather than what is developing today and tomorrow.

I would think a dozen or two tops complainants will have got in touch with these brands and they have taken this action.
If they point blank refused to take their adverts from the station, I bet that their sales would not be dented at all because, as with all things social media, this will probs be a 24hr storm in a teacup.

And as much as people say a talk format is cheaper than rolling news presumably the guest list of people who make a living from telling us their opinions are having to be paid and that soon adds up.

Three advertisers have decided to stop advertising on the channel and it's only the second day of broadcast.
For comparison, their expectation for advertising is about two-thirds of the (expected) £40m/year revenue... If this is the rate the exodus is going, I don't think GBN could survive until end of 2021, let alone later.
And I've just started working on graphical mocks when GE comes around in 2022/3/4...
