CNN
Cheers for that. Whenever I tuned into Inside Politics for the last year, it's always been Manu Raju, Dana Bash or Nia-Malika Henderson on cover. They'll be probably more covers soon as Abby Phillip is pregnant and I presume she'll be on leave at some point in the next few months.

"Giokos will take on anchoring responsibilities, primarily working with Becky Anderson on the network’s flagship Middle East programme, Connect the World."

She is fantastic on air and very much deserving of more on air time. Interesting she is being based in Dubai when Connect the World is broadcast from Abu Dhabi though!

With John Deftarios' departure, CNN needed to fill the gap of a business voice in the Middle East and she will do that very well. I wonder if she will end up host of Marketplace Middle East, that show is still under development but I expect we will see more of her there.

But I don't know what will happen with Marketplace Africa? Is that show being discontinued?

An online streaming service is launching for CNN next year with new shows for Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper to be included.

What sense does that make when you have HLN floundering and CNNI is flapping in the wind like an outhouse door. They need to fix the rest of the house before building a new wing. How stupid.

I saw a bit of New Day earlier and thought it worked fine with John in New York and Brianna in Washington - but John looks a bit lonely on his own in the big New York studio.

They do have guests and reporters in the studio, but I think it would be worth them downsizing a bit, as I'm not sure they need a huge, two-storey set any more. I think something a bit cosier would work best now. Plus, at the moment, Washington look a bit like the 'satellite' studio rather than an equal partner.

Couldn’t agree more. A total waste of resources and the staffing levels for New Day must have doubled. Social distancing has finished on New Day with Brianna huddled closely next to two guests most mornings. Same for Berman when he has guests.

It’ll be interesting to see if Newsroom is back in 17N when Camerota and Blackwell are back on later.

Doesn’t look like Harlow and Scuitto will be sharing 17N anytime soon either.

I wonder if they'll move Robin Meade and Susan Hendricks the only live HLN anchors left that still have shows, over to CNN+ have Morning/Weekend Express there. I feel HLN's days are numbered, if/when Discovery takes over they aren't going to need the crime shows anymore since Investigation Discovery exists and does better in the ratings. It's sad that HLN is pretty much dead-weight to the folks at CNN, but I'd rather they put it out of it's misery if they aren't going to do anything with it. Either that or give the US full access to CNN I with a Robin Meade /Weekend Express opt out.

It is indeed back in 17N today.

The press release says she will be 'central' to the show - so you will 'see more of her there' in some capacity

There is currently a general business promo that includes Marketplace Africa, with Zain Asher promoted as (remaining as) the anchor

Strangely, Zain Asher hosted One World from the NYSE today.
Business programme First Move used to be from there, but Julia Chatterley was still hosting today from the usual “single-shot NY background” studio. :?

It is indeed back in 17N today.

As was 'Early Start' according to Roman's Twitter. Brian Steltar also wrote about it in the Reliable Sources email.

At this stage, CNN is a bizarre organisation. Overall it has a load of good points and strengths, but it has no ability to see them, on the other hand, it keeps making choices that are Nuts especially when it comes to the 21st Century Media World. Remember this is the same organisation that in 2016 paid 25 million to Casey Niestat for a social media Company (fair play to Casey, he saw them coming Smile ) They changed it into a News department of sorts, Produced about 200 short-form videos... and then shut it down.

At this stage, CNN is your Grandfather who pays a grand for an Android Phone and by the end of the week, the scam sites have all his bank and personal details. But he does have a copy of Don Lemons book on his handset Big Grin
