Idents in schools
#1
Does anyone have any memories of watching schools or regular programmes from BBC Two/ITV/Channel 4/S4C in school with one of their idents shown before it?

I can remember a few from my memory (mostly from BBC Two):
Kebab (I can't remember which version) before an an episode of Come Outside
Copper Cut-Out (I can't remember the programme)
Water or Water Reflection before an episode of Watch
Fluffy Dog before an episode of HealthE.
Invisible Walls before a programme about a manor (I think?)

I remember seeing the ITV Schools on 4 rotoscope ident that way.

BBC Daytime on 2 ident on off-air recorded schools programmes pre-1985.

One I always remember was Geordie Racer being introduced with Fluffy Dog, which must have been recorded on a repeat run. Otherwise I can remember watching Cats Eyes and Thinkabout, which usually seemed to be proceeded by the likes of Powder, Neon or Copper Cut Out.

Remember a lot being proceeded by the C4 countdown clock as well, which as kids we all shouted the countdown at the screen

ITV Schools on 4 (rotomotion) regularly as we watched most of them live at the time.
The later package (1993 onwards - the 4 Schools) popped up on occasion as the secondary school had taped them at the time and they still came in useful on occasion.

By the time I got to college they were still wheeling out programmes taped off the TV with the BBC 2 1979 look appearing before the programmes. Sometimes the white 1986 look too, but usually the earlier look.

Don't ask me what any of the programmes because I haven't the foggiest. Smile

And of course in later life before it was all stripped back:

I think this might be an ident near the end of the '4 Learning' brand and schooling programmes on Channel 4.

Don't know what the all time record was junction wise, 12 minutes is probably well up there.

I definitely remember the ITV Schools ident- preceeding Story World with Tony Robinson, amongst other shows. Was gutted come September 1993 and it was gone.

The idents before BBC schools programmes meant less seeing as they were the same BBC2 idents used at other times anyway.

By the time I left primary school and started secondary school, we tended to be watching shows recorded off VHS rather than "live" and the teachers had already cued the tapes up after the idents, so we rarely saw them.

I remember this on S4C when I was younger. https://youtu.be/o3e_EoEBNh4

I remember the ITV Schools on Channel 4 which was my first window into TV presentation and wondered at the time why another channel was on Channel 4 and I would have been watching these school programmes at least 10 years after ITV Schools on Channel 4 ended. I also remember BBC Two 1991-2001 package in schools with Come Outside, Spywatch, Magic Key and I can't remember the name of the programme but it was the hand that spelt words and helped with spelling (anyone help me on that one?)

Not sure how to tell you this... I watched Geordie Racer at school when it was preceded by the yellow version of the stripey =2=
Write that down in your copybook now

Seeing as Geordie Racer was first shown in 1988, I'm not sure how that's possible!

Hmm I guess it would have been the TWO, it would have been the first run when I saw it. I know we did see things with the stripey 2 though.

Certainly remember seeing the post-1997 Learning Zone branding (as it was being fast forwarded) but also remember seeing some old (even then) diamond BBC1 schools presentation on tape.
