My issue with the GMB boycott was that they seemed almost proud that the ministers weren't appearing rather be annoyed about it.

Although they mentioned that he hadn’t done a BBC breakfast or Sky news interview recently, I did rattle me that the show thinks it had a god given right to interview the prime minister. With new tv and news stations starting up all the time ( GB News, Talkradio, Times radio) he can’t do everyone. Probably for the best he does none of them.

Yeah. Pre-recorded interviews are the best we can reasonably expect, done on a pool basis as they are now (even if it does seem like Sky's Sam Coates does more than anyone else...!)

The problem with getting Boris on to do an interview is that they wouldn't want to ask him about policies, plans, they would just go for the jugular and hope to get the story of getting Boris to resign. The Monday - Wednesday presenters are normally quite aggressive and rude and won't give up on anything. They just have one set of questions which they ask everyone everyday. If they knew the presenters were to be less aggressive and talk about anything than their agenda then I think he might take part. Out of interest when was his last TV interview on any channel and show?

I think he was on Andrew Marr a few months back and I think This Morning sometime last year.

Come to think of it, I don't recall any PM doing a live interview on any of the Breakfast shows in recent times, they're usually prerecorded. Compare to in Australia and New Zealand and it's not usual to see either PMs pop up to do a live interview,

And if the GMB Production Team continue to allow aggressive and rude behaviour, then the programme itself risks getting collared by Ofcom, or worse, replaced by another TV Show. I do sincerely hope that ITV will one day acknowledge that being aggressive and rude to your guests is most definitely NOT the way forward.

Piers would say that by not appearing they were denying the viewers important information, but in reality the reason they were annoyed was because they didn’t get their juicy online clip.

When the ministers did start appearing again with Piers we learned no more information than when they werent appearing as Piers just ranted at them about something that happened months ago or something that isn’t even on that ministers watch.

Agreed. That's why I was so disappointed when I saw "we can't wait for some fiery debates!" and "don't hold back!" being tweeted by the GMB Twitter page upon the announcement of Alistair Campbell's upcoming appearance on the programme. The last thing they need is another polarising, shouting, interrupting Piers figure. You can interview people and get the answers you require in a calm, measured, professional way, but you'd be forgiven for thinking that GMB would prefer to just have televised slanging matches every morning.

Joking aside, it does work - at least a few days in a week something regarding GMB will be trending on Twitter - I think flag-gate was the last time something related to BBC breakfast was trending, and that, it seems, has higher viewers than GMB since Piers left, and before the pandemic.

You'd've thought GMB would have learnt their lesson after last time - especially so soon after Piers' exit.
In any case, judgement will be reserved until we've seen him in action!

Actually, the only day Good Morning Britain has ever beaten BBC Breakfast in the overnight average ratings since it began 7 years ago was the day following the Harry and Meghan interview, when Piers Morgan stormed off the set, and that was only by 40k - 1.29m to Breakfast's 1.25m that morning. Otherwise, BBC Breakfast has always out-rated Good Morning Britain, even if the gap closed between them to 300k - 400k in the latter stages of Piers Morgan's time on the show.
