I’m hoping for something like the SRF1 idents, which I think have always been a great combination of live action and CGI - shows how using people creatively with CGI overlay doesn’t have to be dull or ordinary and can actually create some stunning symbol-led visuals…

Or the BBC Earth idents, using the really clever circle motif, could also be very easily adapted into stunning BBC One idents using live action / CGI enhanced shots…

Either way, I’ll very happily take an improvement from 2/10 to 7/10 for the new idents. Sounds like a super upgrade on the lifeless, creatively barren dross we’ve put up with for the last few years!

The BBC Earth idents are rather nice, though somewhat compromised by the rectangular logo at the end of a circular based ident. Agree that concept could very easily have been adapted for BBC One and arguably improved as a result.

Live action idents have been a thing for BBC One since 1997, the first showing people were aired during the peak of the balloon in 2000. It's nothing new Oh god, I almost forgot about those... 'highlights' included the expressionless man bungee jumping from the balloon, and people whizzing around a market square at high speed. (See TV Ark - scroll to the very bottom of the page)
Channel4Squares uploaded them onto the Blue Place in 2019 and they are still on Metropol's upload service

Remember the bunjee jump one well but not these two or Skateboarders. Did that market one really go out like that with a blatantly obvious cut back to the beginning half way through?

They haven't been leaked. A blue name badge means that the member is 'verified' and works within the TV industry. Some BBC employees were given a preview a little while ago.

I have to say the motion on this made me feel a bit sick.

I am compelled to politely point out that the correct phrase is " whet the appetite" (not "wet").
"Whet" meaning to sharpen (e.g. a blade), rather than to dampen.
MISLEADING HEADLINE "MAKES YOU READ ARTICLE", SAYS NAKED MILEY CYRUS.
To change tack, slightly, and sorry if this has been discussed already, but I find it strange how small the letters are on the new BBC logo. I wonder whether they will even be legible when the logo is used as a DOG, for example. Certainly in SD. Unless DOGs are going to be bigger, of course.

I have to say the motion on this made me feel a bit sick. The use of the 'O' is quite nice, though could be slower. I imagine that style of ident would easily allow for variations in terms of the order and how many clips are used within the ident.

https://youtu.be/noquN2ZcKPQ Oh first time seeing this, what a lovely piece of work.
Hopefully similar levels of creative flair, that have been seen for years on the international commercial BBC channels, will be heading our way soon.

I think it’s a very clever development of the circle/globe concept and, as you say, could be easily slowed down or simplified somewhat and allows for many different variations of clips and ordering. Would love to know if it was ever pitched or considered as an idea for BBC One as it seems such a natural fit for the channel.

Speaking from a English viewer perspective.
I'd say from guessing, note guessing, that BBC Two could have one applied easily. But for BBC One, that would be more problematic given the many regional services that come from it. Also thinking about it, would the DOG say in my region - The North West - have BBC One or BBC One North West for example. So unless the English Regions are given a bit more leeway in having more locally commissioned programming any form of logo that switches between those mentioned in Bold Italics would be somewhat silly from a branding standpoint.
P.S. Given the somewhat tenuous nature of how the English Regions stand anyway - politically speaking - compared with their Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish counterparts and form of move that would be made to strip away the identity - especially on the BBC - would be met with the utmost derision because using my example. It is no longer "BBC One North West" but "BBC One", whereas in the nations they would be still branded as "BBC One Scotland", "BBC One Wales" and "BBC One Northern Ireland" and not the central "BBC One" that is foisted on the BBC English Regions. So politically, having DOGs for BBC One wouldn't work.
