Is anyone else under the impression that they shift topics when they just run out of things to talk about? It seems like there's very little structure and can get quite disorienting when there's no strap on screen half of the time (or the wrong one). I did happen to dip into the 5pm hour which seemed a bit chaotic so maybe it's just that.

Obviously not uncommon at all for design flaws not to be picked up pre-launch and amendments to be made - the blinds on Daybreak Mk I for example and adding hints of colour to the view outside of Sky's glass box. I struggle to see what can be done quickly here though from an aesthetic rather than technical point of view. For me the whole black wall needs painting white for starters but they'd need at least a couple of days of the studio being free to do that.
Well, from just watching a combined 10 minutes of the output on and off during yesterday and todays breakfast shows, it's clear Discovery just provided the money, rather than anyone with any amount of techincal knowledge to help with the install, set-up and rehearsals. At times I wanted to laugh, thinking it was a spoof. Mis-cuts, off mic presenters gazing at laptops, then harshly into the camera and back again. Awful.
What would help?
I know I've been irritated by the constant BBC Sport studio presentation of the Euro 2020+1 with a single one shot, then to a high angle moving jib, back to another one shot, back to the moving jib, back to one shot (and repeat until the football restarts) but some movement in the shots, is what is needed right now on GB News. It's just to still and static. That would 'help'.
Putting a couple of monitors behind the presenters and in front of the windows, showing a loop of the GBN logo. More movement, and colour. Little things.
Small things, that anyone with ounce of visual imagination could bring the table.

This should be called rambling news rather than rolling news. I pity everyone working on it, especially the probably underpaid techs.

Did I really hear that right? Did they really just read out an email by 'Mike Oxlong'.

On my viewing feed at the BBC right now, Alex's mic is hitting 5 PPM (the correct level) but only after turning up the feed by 13.5dB (although I don't know if the incoming feed has been calibrated properly, so I'm largely ignoring that).
Meanwhile Simon is barely hitting 2.5 PPM. The think tank guest was also significantly louder than Simon. That interview happened while Alex went off set to fix her mic (dead battery?). When she returned we heard mic ruffling (being taken off the think tank guest?) and then a female voice (probably the guest on air now) on the programme sound being lined up ("Yes I can hear you...")
I've just watched my first 5 minutes of this and they had a guest drop out half way through, Simon apologised for the tech issues and asked us to bare with them as they are aware and looking into it. The second presenter returned with sound issues briefly before it was sorted. Simon then said they would be talking to a nightclub owner....That did not happens so they carried on discussing it between themselves. Alex then said she thought it was disgraceful that young people have not been allowed to go to a nightclub and she is surprised they have not been out on the streets - really? we are in a pandemic and there are much more important things than having thousands in nightclubs - turned off

The clock has still not been fixed - How hard is it to move it down a few pixels- Not 2 days worth
When Alex was talking earlier Simon looked totally bored and was messing about with his mouse looking at his laptop
If I was Simon or Colin id be seriously thinking what have I done to leave a mostly respected broadcaster, in a good slot with a technically excellent crew behind me for this
I think people are being generous in thinking this will still exist next year. I would not be surprised to see the plug pulled in 3 months or less with the way things are going

From our (limited) pictures, it doesn't look like they can monitor the PPM of individual channels? (Or at least they've certainly not got the per channel metering you have on a Studer…) The web stream audio is pretty low as well. It seems more in sync than before (yesterday I was having to shift it by around 100-150ms…)

It all makes Arise News look good doesn't it. Even good old Friendly TV back in the day stands up to this.
It's got to be embarrassing for all of the big(ish) names that signed up to this?

Don't have time to watch outside a couple of drop-ins, but notice a lot of talk about lives with the regional reporters etc.
Has there been a reported package aired, or is it just live hits?
I mean funny though it is plenty of respectable broadcast outlets have fallen for similar. But that's one of the oldest in the book, if that got through Toby Lerone and friends could have a field day with some of the more subtle ones.
