What's annoying about last year is that only the pro dancer Katya Jones had Covid. It wasn't fair on Nicola Adams. I assume replacing her partner wasn't possible either.

I assume replacing her partner wasn't possible either.Last year is very different from this year for many reasons, I suppose if a pro got Covid but the celeb tested negative, I assume it would be like when a pro gets injured and one of the eliminated pros steps in for a few weeks like we saw with Kevin Clifton stepping in to partner with Alex Scott when her pro Neil got injured in 2019.

With Tom still touring during his appearance on Strictly, this has come as no surprise to me. I was waiting for this to happen, and I am surprised it was this quick. Touring whilst appearing on Strictly, with all the exposure to large audiences, where he could easily get the virus, made no sense. This was a ticking bomb waiting to happen, and boy it happened fast.

Are concerts still generally operating with testing and/or Covid passes in place?

I assume replacing her partner wasn't possible either.Last year the legal rules were different - 14 days isolation and close contacts also had to isolate. This year it is 10 days isolation and close contacts only have to get tested, so whilst last year it ruled both of the partnership out for two shows, hence having to forfeit their place, this year depending on timing you may miss just one show and return in time to train for the next - and if the pro goes down the partner may be able to continue with a substitute partner.

I can’t imagine the BBC are happy with press headlines reporting how much the ratings have dropped when compared to 2019 they haven’t changed much at all.

You can't compare this year's Strictly ratings to last year's Strictly ratings because A. It started later in the year and B. There was a lockdown for the duration of it.

I think this upcoming weekend will be the best way to look at the ratings, especially the Sunday night results show. I do have a feeling we will see a drop in overnight audience, which is to be expected, as linear channels struggle to get big audiences watching.
I just looked back at last week, and there wasn't much that I ever watched on a linear channel. I think Strictly Come Dancing was the only BBC programme I watched air live. All the rest was on the BBC iplayer or YouTube.

Strictly started a whole month later last year, which even excluding restrictions of the time means a higher available audience - and a shorter show presumably. I think once such shows go over the two hour mark, especially on the BBC with no ad breaks, they're probably that little bit longer than they should be. Talking of which I see the results show is now 55 minutes, which is 15 minutes longer than it generally has been in recent years.

Yes, I have to say, I do find the early episodes of Strictly a bit on the long side. Admittedly I'm terrible for fidgeting after a while, so I won't apply my standards to everyone else, but Saturday's show with no ad breaks was a bit of a trek. At least something like I'm a Celebrity has the ads to break it up a bit.

I see Strictly is getting a slot on Sign Zone tonight, something I've not noticed before. Is this the first year it's been signed?
