ITV Idents and Presentation
Yeah, as Fanoftv mentioned, they are using the same style for First Look trailers, it isn't going to be applied elsewhere...

And nothing on ITV3 and ITV4, I guess
I’m very surprised to see that the new ITV Ident for July has not yet been mentioned.
http:// https://theident.gallery/player....1-2-010721 The Ident Gallery has videos of the idents which feature a lovely version of the logo in the background with a dancer (though it reminds me a little of pre 2013 ITV2).
Had to share this absolutely terrible continuity announcement from the early hours of Tuesday morning.

I could write better continuity than that.

Fair to say the novelty has well and truly worn off.
@Brekkietweets
I feel like the dancer is somewhat surplus to requirements. I do like the realisation of the logo though.

ITV continuity is just 'not fit for purpose' these days, from constant errors on UTV pre-records, to far to many live announcing errors, to the drab and dreary above example. It's just not good is it???
"From today you'll hear some new voices when you're watching UTV, as for the time being we're handing over to our colleagues at ITV, but rest assured Julian and I will be back with you as soon as possible"

I think the dancer is the point of the ident.

I'm surprised someone at ITV signed this off. It's simply the logo in a single colour, and the silhouette of someone dancing. It makes me think of the title sequence for 'Tales of the Unexpected'.

I don't know what is being briefed for ITV (main channel) continuity nowadays, but that wouldn't fly at my work. Most of the scripting feels very cut and paste with neutral delivery, there's little personality involved. If you look at examples from the ITV1 era, it had a sense of 'oomph'

Those idents too, whilst not the most spectacular ever made, have so much more life than the current art idents.

I've given the concept a chance, but I really don't like the artwork idents. They don't fit ITV as a channel, in fact that and the most recent surrounding presentation feels like someone is trying to make ITV more upmarket and failing to understand what the channel is about. ITV is commercial, brash, bold, mass appeal. It's not More4 or Sky Arts.

Being in STV land and not paying much attention to these, I didn't realise the ITV Creates idents had so much "small print" along the bottom. Feels like it distracts a bit from what the artist created.

Also, in reality how many people are really going to bother searching 'ITV Creates'...? I'd prefer the idents without all the text clutter.

I agree with what you’re saying, but it’s been clear for many years, probably since the demise of the celebrity idents, that the tone of ITV’s presentation has been with advertisers in mind rather than the viewers.

Giving the channel a more upmarket, arty and premium feel is going to be a better fit for ABC1 focused advertisers like Waitrose and BMW than if their ads were sat alongside brash, showbizzy branding. And I think ITV, for a long time, has been trying to shake off its cheap and downmarket image.

I agree though that the packaging doesn’t really reflect the product a lot of the time. But as long as it’s the advertisers paying the bills, I don’t see things changing anytime soon.

Ah, but there must be a good compromise between the two, surely? I just feel like the disconnect between the programmes and the presentation is too much now, compared to anything in recent times.

Yes. The 2013 package.
