Absolutely love it. It’s amazing. Best news set in a generation and gives me Sky news centre vibes. In awe of what Chris Cook and his team have achieved. Congrats to them all

I have to wonder how much better this set would look without the stark white which is part of the current branding?

Will be interesting to see BBC London coming from it.  I guess future regional studios will try to follow this trend.

Think the cameras give it a 2001 A Space Odyssey look to it together with the monolithic screens!!!

They look neater on screen, and contain the AR Trackers, Autocue, Monitor image, and probably other elements all contained.

I think the current cameras look much much nicer. The way they are smaller and whizz round the track. These new ones are big lumps and just trundle.

Is there a reason for the random area of laminate flooring, other than someone had a bit left over after renovating their convervatory?

I'm not sure how it fits in with any 'design' to the set.  But then again, neither does the 'stairway to nowhere'.

I also wonder how London will be able to come from the same studio, on ITV they have the benefit of an ad break, in BBC One, the regional news starts straight away. There also has to be enough of a pause for the regions to opt out, they can’t just cut from Huw to the London presenter lurking in the sidelines instantly

It's a big enough set that the London presenter can be on the catwalk while the network presenter closes from the desk.  Pull out to a wide shot, regions cut away, cut to the catwalk.

Not to different to the News Channel handing to and from network bulletins in E at weekends.

Yep, definitely prefer the more discreet current cameras - even if they aren't as tidy looking, far less obtrusive. Also have to disagree with mdta that they look better on screen. I think they actually look better in the promo shots (though they may have been deliberately hidden). On The One Show, when you had four crowded round the desk, it just looked busy and darkened the shot.

In that same article they also refer to 'Hugh Edwards' and credit the picture of the old studio E to 'BBC Sport' so not quite sure who put the article together.
