Basically, yes. Warehousing also happens with US local channels as well, for example WPIX in New York is a Nexstar managed station, but is owned by a third party to ensure it meets competition rules.

Most (if not all) of these channels lose money so I don't think there would be any incentive in doing that.

Good news this is. Though, they should scrap the France 4 name with Okoo/Culturebox to reflect the channel serving these two services

I think that the France 4 name should be kept instead, it's a much better name than Okoo/Culturebox

The two brands are already part of France.tv. Using the digital brands for a linear channel makes sense if those two target audiences then move to France.tv to watch archive shows.

In fact as of right now France 4's twitter account always refers to Okoo and Culturebox as ''Okoo on our channel'' and ''Culturebox on our channel''

BTW this lovely chat about France 4's name reminds me that back in 2005 they originally wanted to call the channel France 8 or France Prime (I wonder where they got the idea for such names), they settled on France 4 because it filled a gap between France 3 and France 5, and it still works like that to be fair....

France 4 had actually launched in 1996 as Festival on the TPS satellite service. They had also originally planned a news channel called France 1.

Indeed, and in a way the France 1 name has been used, as the name of the public TV channels in the French Overseas Territories ;-)

Looks like the France 4 branding will be back for the French Open coverage as it's being shown on France 2, 3 and 4.

The YouTube stream was awful, because of YouTube's insistence that live streams have to be 30 or 60fps and it was never deinterlanced.
