Yeah, any news yet on her replacement, or is Dan just gonna be having guest hosts after Louise leaves?

They might wait until Louise has left to announce it.

Equally it could be that whoever they appoint isn't immediately available. Thinking internally if Sally was I'd imagine that is easier than say Nina the as the pool of business staff for Salford is smaller - in fact some days Sean has been on 5Live until 0600 before then doing Breakfast.

It's probably giving them too much credit to think they know what they're doing - they clearly believe what was clearly a goodbye message to Louise was Carol's swansong. No doubt she'll be "REPLACED" on Monday and then in a couple of weeks after her hols they'll concoct some kind of "COMEBACK" story for viewers "CONFUSED" by her reappearing after leaving.

So are Breakfast going to do the annoying thing of not having a replacement ready to go and probably go for "guest" hosts in the short term. It seems to be increasingly common in TV rather than having a replacement ready to go as seemed to be the case in the past - indeed I'm sure it used to be quite common to have the replacement named when somebody announced they were leaving a show.

I find it a bit weird to refer to Breakfast as having "guest hosts" - it's a news programme, and it's presented by news presenters. If there isn't a permanent replacement for Louise lined up yet, they will presumably use other people from the Breakfast team for now, many of whom regularly present the programme already anyway. It's not like Have I Got News For You.

Geography is a big issue at play here; there are a number of names mentioned on this thread (and elsewhere) as possible contenders to replace Louise Minchin, but if they are in an established London-based role, plus throwing their domestic situation in the mix, then it's highly unlikely they will take up a role based in Salford.
