According to the Apterous Countdown Wiki the latest casualty is the button to start the Countdown clock when Anne takes over (although not straight away)

"Another feature of the show set to be abolished at some point later on in this series is the clock starter button: after being repositioned twice, the clock will be started in the gallery instead of in the studio."

What is the point is moving the clock start Button TWICE in the same series? And why do the team at Countdown think that moving the Clcok start Button to the gallery is a good move?

Maybe it was moved on all these occasions at the presenters request? Either way they’ll be some logistical reason behind it, they won’t be moving it for fun.

Anne's just been on Breakfast and mentioned this. Nick was left handed so the button was on the left, where as Anne is right handed so presumably that's why it changed.

Something I find interesting is that on the channel 4 website they're still advertising tickets for the audience

and the application form (which also features one of the promo pics of Anne) says this:

For ITV Studios, the wellbeing of our studio audience is of the utmost priority, and therefore, ITV have taken the decision to cancel audience attendance for the Countdown production for the time being. We really do appreciate your continued support and understanding, and look forward very much to seeing you back in studio with us when we have more dates available.

If they're not doing audiences any more, then why? Especially given the page has been updated probably very recently.

I don't think it's ever been completely ruled out - any "permanent" decision is only permanent until someone comes along and changes it. I think it's just as permanent as any decision can be at the moment and taking audiences out of the equation for now makes sense.

I agree. Maybe it should be renamed "Anne Robinson Takes over Countdown" or just simply "Countdown"
