So all the booths backing on to the atria at NBH now have LED screens in the back. Wow!

In the International Presentation thread, you'll find that BBC First will be adopting the new blocks in August. As for any other brands, I suppose we'd know sooner.

Just to add these booths are new from scratch, there are seats inside which are different colours for each box. Prior to this there were "train carriage" booths which looked out and were behind these new booths built into the wall. They now have lockers in the space.

Do you have a picture of the new ones from the seat side?
While workplace investment is important, and ensuring spaces work well is vital (i.e. changing their use when needed), I can't help thinking that this change feels wasteful on a number of levels for a building that's been in use for about ten years, especially when I consider my own office building – regardless of how 'cool' it might be.

This isn't my photo but I have the OK to post it by the person who took it.

I believe the BBC lease the building and will not own it until the 2040s. It is possible as part of the least all this improvement work is already included. This is nothing compared to other changes taking place with the office areas.
Except that’s not how a lease usually works is it
There’s no such thing as a free lunch though. If it’s in the contract, the BBC are paying for it.
Anyway, waste doesn’t just imply financial. I wonder if having a bunch of giant square LED TVs in the atrium is an efficient use of money, resources, energy etc.
I don’t want the BBC public spaces to be like a funeral parlour – but what they had before was also very decent.

I really have no idea, I have never signed a billion pound lease before...... If anyone on here has, please do let us know!

Are we sure that they're actually LED screens? I know someone else referred to them as such but surely you can get the same effect using lightboxes with photos in front for a fraction of the cost.
