Watching 'Unbeatable' and the videowall graphics remind me of this...

Sadly it looks as if Jeremy Paxman has Parkinson's disease

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-57206289

Thankfully the symptons are currently mild but it does make me wonder if he'll call it a day hosting University Challenge in the not so distant future

I suspect Paxman will keep working until he's physically unable to, Paul Sinha has Parkinson's but has continued to work at present.

The revival of the Austrlian Weakest Link started on 9 last night. Very closely follows the format of the NBC revival last year with the increasing jackpot and (stupid) ommission of the final chain-making round.

Magda is pretty good as host and her being sat isn't as strange as I expected it to be. Quite watchable and I think it may be just a matter of time until there's a revival here.

It's easy enough to watch on 9Now with a VPN.

Seen a bit of criticism of it being cruel and rude - and I think that is the problem nowadays. If it is revived here I wouldn't be surprised if it is for a primetime celebrity run - mocking thick celebs is probably seen as more acceptable than targeting members of the public.

I think Jane Lynch's approach of being mean but in a tongue in cheek manner works really well. I never get the criticism of the presenter being rude to the contestants, they know what they're getting into when they applied!

I really disliked the Australian Weakest Link reboot. The USA reboot was decent if more Americanised than the early 2000s. It catered for its audience. However the Aus one seemed so hammed up with the contestants chat and the echo everytime the host said the Weakest Link is awful.

If it came back in the UK - some of the graphics/music - sure but I'd hope they keep the voting/reveal/chat and last round stuff like the original.

Celebrity Apprentice Australia with Lord Sugar has also started...which makes you appreciate within 5 minutes the production values of the UK version!

Somehow despite having a potential $250k jackpot compared to $100k in the original run the show managed to give away just $14k, reportedly it's lowest ever jackpot. I thought the chains looked better than the US version myself with incentive to build longer chains - though perhaps that was the problem that led to so little being banked.

Good lordy, that echo everytime Magda says "The Weakest Link" really is irritating and quite frankly embarrassing.

If the US/Australia style is how the Weakest Link format is gonna be going forward then a UK reboot is gonna be a mess. I want a UK reboot and have done for many years but this will not cut the mustard with the UK viewer. It's straying far too much from the original.

The Russian 2020 reboot of Weakest Link is a very good example of the format and how I would like the UK reboot to be....if it happens of course...

How the UK reboot should look like. Wow just look at how fast paced the questions are!
And non of this silly pressing the button to bank!

The US/Aus style of TWL is like another programme all together..more like a parody of the original format. No way as mean and moody as the traditional format.
"From today you'll hear some new voices when you're watching UTV, as for the time being we're handing over to our colleagues at ITV, but rest assured Julian and I will be back with you as soon as possible"
Gillian Porter, UTV (2nd April 2020; 5:59am)
Yesterday's episode of Tipping Point was apparently...

Only the second time £20k was won when the double fell with the jackpot counter
Yeah, I saw that. Should be on the ITV Hub if anyone wants to see it.

Although..
Having a silver/chrome graded shade on the bottom of the money tree and time elapsed graphics, and using white text, does make them harder to read than they really should.

Don't know if this is the right thread to bring it up but Sue Barker, Phil Tufnell & Matt Dawson last 'A Question of Sport' went out on BBC One tonight after 24, 17 and 13 year reigns on the show. The show had some of their favourite guests, highlights of their time as the 'Observation Round' and all spoke about their time on the show at the end. Good luck to the 3 of them that made an enjoyable show week after week and the announcer said the new team whoever that may be will start in the summer.
The Cube US seems to have made it's debut - although it's stated premiere is June 10th, so not sure if it's been put online first or had a "sneak peak" airing as US networks often do. One twist they've added is that the host can take one attempt at a game for them.
