RT was finally dumped off DirecTv in the US.

I’m not 100% certain but I believe RT UK is uplinked from the UK? If so it’s possible that RT UK is fibre fed from Moscow to London for uplink? I don’t see another satellite being used for the “hop” to Astra 2G…. If so, it may stay on air in the UK until OFCOM does it’s thing.

It won’t. SES (and Eutelsat too) is subject to EU law and once the ban has been published in the gazette they have to comply and switch it off on all their satellites regardless of where the uplink originates.
That moment can’t come quick enough.
The side effect will of course be that RT will by default breach their Sky and Freesat services agreements as they won’t be able to meet the requirements to keep their EPG slots.
Job done despite the UK’s dithering.
So the only place you will be able to watch it is on the RT site or the platform they are streaming on.

They can’t just “switch it off” though… it’s on a Sky leased transponder and to switch that off would also knock off other channels. They’d have to ask Sky (or whoever uplinks on their behalf - Arqiva for example) to remove it from Astra 2G - and as the UK isn’t in the EU I’m not sure how much power they’d have.
I don’t know what the hysteria is about. Just don’t watch it if it offends.

RT now reporting that they’ve been removed from all platforms in the EU (online, social media, TV etc)…. However still broadcasting in the UK.

They sure can. SES will no longer be allowed to make its platform available to RT.
The contract with Sky for the transponder space is irrelevant as SES’ hands are tied.

So how would SES stop one individual stream on a transponder that’s not even uplinked by themselves? They’ll need co-operation. RT UK still broadcasting….

If it's effectively banned, illegal content and it's transmitting from a satellite owned by an EU based satellite then do they have a choice? If they don't remove it from the transponder, then would Astra just switch off the transponder?
Ultimately it's not really up to Sky and they're not going to p-off SES

There's no hysteria and it's not about 'offending' it's about propaganda, misinformation from what is effectively an enemy state at a time of war. God forbid the UK gets more involved but if we do, do we want a 21st century Lord Haw Haw?
That said, it's not been banned in the UK and doing so might actually cause more harm - if we pull RT, will Russia block the BBC at a time when the Ukrainian and Russian services have never been more needed?

… which would cause all sorts of legal repercussions with other legitimate broadcasters who get switched off as a result.
Let’s face it - the only real impartial journalism right now is going to be from news outlets such as AlJazeera or TRT World etc. All western media (BBC, ITV, Sky, CNN, France 24 etc etc) is obviously going to do their best to spin the narrative in the wests favour as far as OFCOM would allow.
I personally don’t believe anything RT says as truth in this conflict, but I’m also very sceptical about our medias reporting of the conflict too, hence why the likes of AlJazeera are beneficial to have for a more neutral perspective.

You shouldn’t rely on a source which knowingly spreads false information, naturally.
Then ban is not in force yet and the feeds continue to be available across all satellites.

The idea that there is a ‘western’ spin to apply, though, is just incredibly misguided. There is objectivity but those broadcasters you cite report on facts, in a factual way.
RT is, editorially, an organ of the Russian government and - as last Sunday saw - was unable to contain its fervour for being light on facts and heavy on misinformation, misdirection, and, well, quite sloppy reporting.

It's worth noting too it isn't just an opinion that Russian broadcasters are biased, it is written into Russian broadcasting law that news broadcasters must report the "official narrative" of events.

The way the media would be in this country if certain people had their way.
