Could be an error. But maybe they are rolling out HD regions on iPlayer?

I haven't got either Netflix or Disney so I can't make a comparison Netflix charge you an extra four quid for HD and an extra four quid again for 4K and have limits on how many screens you can use with one account. iPlayer is "free".

Well there has been an improvement there’s a 960x540 at 50fps but hd is still at 1280x720 at 50fps I don’t think it’s too bad tbh.

The 50fps at 720p makes a lot of difference and is perfectly fine for most viewers, but as I can watch VOD at 1080p/50fps through the Fire TV Cube, it's even better.

I haven't got either Netflix or Disney so I can't make a comparison Disney and Netflix only cap out at 30fps as well, whereas the iPlayer does 50, so I'd argue the BBC are doing better there even if it is 720 rather than 1080p. Resolution isn't the only measure of quality.

I barely bother with Freeview for BBC output. My TV is 4K, I don't know if my TV is upscaling iPlayer output to 4K, but the picture is jaw-dropping. I live in the North West of England, so I can get regional news on ITV Granada (via Freesat and Freeview, for BBC One I use the Wales region on iPlayer)
I might try to see if the picture is the same when it's upscaling from 540p (my TV supposedly only supports up to 720p).

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but how come the BBC News Channel doesn’t have a DOG on iPlayer if streamed live?

Presumably because it has one already as part of the branding. BBC Parliament (currently simulcasting BBC News) doesn't have one either.

Doesn't CBBC and CBeebies not have one as well, based on the fact their DOGs also potentially clash?

I noticed certain episodes of Pokémon have been censored, removing some of the violence, pretty jarring to me.

Monsters battling each other? That's like if Robot Wars was completely edited, where instead of the robots demolishing each other, they just give each other hugs (or try to, anyway). Just seems arguably trivial to remove the violence from a franchise that has been built upon that.
